San Antonio’s AT&T Center played host to the second UFC event in a 24-hour stretch on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 44. The FOX Sports 1-televised fight card featured 11 bouts, and in the main event, Cub Swanson (21-7 MMA, 6-1 UFC) outpointed fellow featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens (23-10 MMA, 10-9 UFC) over five rounds en route to a unanimous-decision victory. Swanson’s win marked the sixth consecutive decision on the main card after preliminary-card results saw four of five fights end inside the distance.. SAN ANTONIO – It’s a good thing Carlos Diego Ferreira (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) doesn’t get paid by the minute, or he’d be going home with a relatively meager paycheck. The Brazilian UFC newcomer scored a slick judo throw on “The Ultimate Fighter 16″ winner Colton Smith (3-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) and immediately moved into a modified rear-naked choke foe a quick win. The lightweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 44 event at AT&T Center in San Antonio. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following an additional prelim on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on FOX Sports 1. Once Ferreira got an early clinch, he perfectly timed the takedown, unloaded some quick punches, and then locked in the hookless rear-naked choke. The fighter, who had a significant cheering section, forced the tap-out in just 38 seconds.

Myles Jury out, Trevino meets Trujillo, Johnny Case meets Joe Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night 44

The UFC’s debut in San Antonio later this month has seen a pair of changes. Myles Jury (14-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is out of his lightweight fight against Abel Trujillo (12-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC), and Frank Trevino (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will move up the card to take Jury’s place. FOX Sports first reported the change. That change left Joe Ellenberger (14-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), Trevino’s original opponent, without a foe. But UFC newcomer Johnny Case (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) said on Twitter that he has signed with the promotion and will be taking on Ellenberger on the card. UFC Fight Night 44 takes place June 28 at AT&T Center in San Antonio.
