UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman Gate Officially Lands in Nevada’s Top 5 MMA Draws

The official numbers are in and UFC 162 is officially a success… at least at the box office. The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday revealed the final tally for UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman confirming an attendance of 12,964 for gate receipts totaling $4,826,450. UFC 162 took place on July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and aired live on pay-per-view. There were 10,157 tickets sold for UFC 162, while company officials gave away 2,807 complimentary tickets. New UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman made the event one for the history books, capturing the belt by knocking out Anderson Silva in the second round. While many fellow pro fighters predicted that Weidman had the ability to win the fight, the way the fight ended came as a surprise to nearly everyone

Cage Warriors Fight Night 9 heads to Bahrain on Oct. 25

Cage Warriors will make a return to the Middle Eastern island nation of Bahrain on Oct. 25 for Cage Warriors Fight Night 9. Company officials confirmed the plans with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), which will provide a stream of the event’s main card. Cage Warriors Fight Night 9 takes place at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town, which also hosted Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 in May 2012. No fights have yet been finalized for the card

MMA supporter and head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has opened the door for Cage Warriors to venture to the capital of Grozny for Cage Warriors 58. The event takes place Aug. 24, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with company officials. No fights are currently set for the event, which streams live on MMAjunkie.com. It’s Cage Warriors’ eighth event of 2013. Chechnya, an autonomous republic in Russia, is home to notable fighters such as KSW star Mamed Khalidov and current UFC fighter Adlan Amagov

While the UFC has been busy filling the dance card for the promotion’s debut UFC on FOX Sports 1 event, company officials are busy filling out the second card, as well. UFC officials today announced a pair of additions to the “UFC on FOX Sports 1 2: Kampmann vs. Condit 2″ card, which takes place at Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The new bookings include a middleweight bout of Robert “Bubba” McDaniel (21-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Brad Tavares and a women’s bantamweight fight of Sarah Kaufman (16-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs.
