Heading into his scheduled fight earlier this month against Nick Kirk in the semifinals of the Bellator bantamweight tournament on Sept. 7, Joe Warren’s path took an unexpected turn. Literally on his way to catch his airplane to fly to the event in Connecticut, Warren was told the fight was in jeopardy due to an issue with his pre-fight medical exam

Connecticut and all of Canada legalize MMA in separate votes

A pair of regulatory hurdles to MMA legalization fell today in North America. In Connecticut, a bill to legalize MMA passed the senate, clearing the way for events to be held in the state. North of the border, Canadian legislators amended a law to allow combat sports, including MMA. The former means that the sport is legal in all but one state in the U.S., while the latter bolsters legislation previously left to provinces within Canada.
