The males took center stage on the third episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate with the first male fight, while the animosity between coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate boiled over. Team Tate gained matchmaking control with Julianna Pena’s submission win over Shayna Baszler and coach Tate opted to pit Chris Holdsworth against Team Rousey’s top male pick Chris Beal in this week’s match-up. Drama in the Fighter House Julianna Pena may have defeated Shayna Baszler in last week’s episode, but she is getting on her housemates’ nerves by talking in an English accent. She is accused by teammates of telling Team Rousey the planned female match-ups. Cody Bollinger confronted Pena about the allegations. Pena denied them, but that did nothing to sway her teammates from believing she did.

Featherweight Champ Jose Aldo May Have Suffered Broken Foot in UFC 163 Title Fight

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defended his 145-pound title at UFC 163 on Saturday by defeating “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung , but may have suffered a broken foot early in the title bout. “When the fight started the first thing I did, I kicked him and he put his knee, so the first time I kicked him I don’t know if I broke my foot. I don’t know, it is very swollen,” said Aldo during the post-fight press conference. “He knew that I was going be giving him low kicks, so the first combination I think he left his knee there. I kicked straight at his knee. I don’t know if I broke my foot. It’s very swollen. I can barely walk properly,” he added. The titleholder attended the post-fight press conference, but departed early to go to the hospital and have his foot evaluated. Kicks at a high volume are typical when Aldo fights, but he had to make adjustments early on to deal with the foot injury. “I had to change my strategy. I had to totally change it,” he said. “We tried to control it in a different way. Everyone already expects for me to be kicking low kicks, but I’m a complete fighter. I always try to practice everything,” said the champion. “Whereever the fight goes, I always try to use all my weapons. I don’t only have one weapon. RIO DE JANEIRO – In a battle of “Ultimate Fighter” veterans, Sergio Moraes put his Brazilian jiu-jitsu on display to stop Neil Magny. Magny brought a big reach advantage into the fight, but once Moraes worked his way past that, he cruised when the fight hit the canvas. The home-country fan favorite sank in a triangle choke, then transitioned to a mounted triangle to force Magny to tap at the 3:13 mark of the first round. The welterweight bout took place today at UFC 163 at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. It aired on FX ahead of the pay-per-view main card. Magny tried to use his nine-inch reach advantage early to keep Moraes at distance. But eventually, Moraes was able to get inside with him, clinch up and land a trip takedown. And that was the beginning of the end for Magny, a Season 16 semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter.” From there, Moraes, the runner-up on the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” transitioned to side control and tried to go to work with Magny by controlling his head

UFC on FOX 8 results/photos: Daron Cruickshank takes split from Yves Edwards

SEATTLE – On a card filled with split decisions, Yves Edwards came out on the short end of one. Edwards appeared to control the center of the octagon throughout the fight in a close standup battle. But it was Daron Cruickshank, who took the fight on short notice, who took home the decision with a pair of 30-27 scores – with Edwards getting a 30-27 of his own. The lightweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena in Seattle. It aired on FX following additional prelims on Facebook and ahead of a main card on FOX. Cruickshank went with a high kick 40 seconds in, but then ate one from Edwards in return moments later.

Women’s MMA Report: ‘Cyborg’ wins Invicta title, women featured at UFC on FOX 8

Former Strikeforce women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino captured her second major title on Saturday night in the main event of Invicta FC 6 in Kansas City, Mo. Justino stopped Marloes “Rumina” Coenen for the second time to claim the inaugural Invicta FC 145-pound championship. Justino (12-1) was in complete control of Saturday’s rematch and pay-per-view headliner from start to finish. She battered Coenen (21-6) with punches, knees and brutal slams that kept the Dutch standout on the defensive throughout the one-sided fight. Coenen did threaten with a kneebar in Round 2, but Justino easily escaped and she scored with more big punches on the feet

CageSport Champ Drew Brokenshire Has Goals to Achieve Before Moving on to the Big Leagues

Coming off one of the bigger upsets of last year when he defeated the then-undefeated Julian Erosa for the CageSport 145-pound title, Drew “Eternal Fire” Brokenshire followed that up with an equally impressive win over veteran Enoch Wilson this past February in his first title defense. “I was really happy with that fight because I know how long Enoch’s been around and how skilled he is,” said Brokenshire. “The fight went four rounds and he ended up pulling out with an injury, but I was pretty happy with my performance and happy to get a win over such a seasoned veteran.” While he’s happy with his performance, Brokenshire admits his inability to stop the takedown made things closer than they should have been, and thus he’s worked hard to get that part of his game in order. “The biggest thing was Enoch was able to take me down quite a bit,” said Brokenshire. “He wasn’t able to do much damage to me, but he was able to control some of the fight. “We’ve been working real hard on it and I feel like we are making some headway. I feel like it is my weakest point and my losses have been to wrestlers who have been able to take me down, so if I can fix that, it will definitely make my life a lot easier.” Brokenshire told MMAWeekly.com that his recent work would come into play in a big way when he returns to CageSport on Saturday against Shorty Wiekel at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash. “It comes down to takedown defense,” said Brokenshire

Dan Henderson Believes Rashad Evans is “Shy” about Exchanging in the Pocket

UFC light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson believes his UFC 161 opponent Rashad Evans is “shy” about exchanging in the pocket, but is aware of the former UFC light heavyweight champion’s wrestling ability. The difference between Evans and other opponents Henderson has faced is Evans’ ability to get the fight to the ground. “He’s a better wrestler than most of my opponents have been,” Henderson told former welterweight contender turned broadcaster Frank Trigg . “I think he gets a little nervous sometimes in there. I’m going to be pressuring him, but not overly aggressive where I end up getting taken down easy. I want to make sure I pressure and control the middle and wait for him to kind of come at me a little bit, but still just pressure him and be aggressive, but not to where I’m going to be getting taken down,” he said.
