The last time fight fans saw Courtney King inside an MMA cage, she was on the losing side of a bout against now back-to-back PFL champion Kayla Harrison . The outcome wasn’t one she wanted, but King (4-2) was able to find a silver lining in defeat. It’s something she is taking into her Invicta FC 45 bout against Romana Pascual (5-2). Invicta FC 45 takes place Wednesday at PAL KC in Kansas City, Kan., and streams live and free on MMA Junkie at 8 p.m. E.T.

Invicta FC 34 results: Bizarre ending, but Vanessa Porto crowned flyweight champ

Vanessa Porto (21-8) looked sharp early but eventually saw an injury call an early end to her title-winning effort over Pearl Gonzalez (9-4). The bout for the vacant Invicta flyweight title served as the headlining contest of Friday’s Invicta FC 34 event, which streamed live on UFC Fight Pass from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. The two women looked crisp on the feet to start, probing with punches and kicks as they sought angles to attack. After some back-and-forth work, Gonzalez worked her way into the clinch, forcing her opponent against the cage, but Porto was able to reverse the position and then take the action to the canvas. Gonzalez immediately countered with a kimura attempt, but Porto muscled her way out of the hold. Porto eventually elected to back away in favor of striking, though the two would finish the frame scrambling for opportunities on the canvas.

Lineup set for Invicta FC 34 with Pearl Gonzalez vs. Vanessa Porto flyweight title headliner

With the addition of three new fights and changes to two others, the lineup is set for Invicta FC’s return next month. Victoria Leonardo (3-1) is set to take on Jamie Milanowski (2-2) at Invicta FC 34, the promotion has announced. And Christina Ricker (1-1) will make her promotional debut against Caitlin Sammons (0-0), who turns pro after an eight-fight amateur run. In addition, Courtney King (1-1) takes on Holli Salazar (1-0-1) in a featherweight bout.

After a grueling five-rounder to close out Friday’s LFA 14 event, the organization has a new middleweight champion. Former Alabama linebacker Eryk Anders (7-0) went the distance in a back-and-forth fight with Brendan Allen (7-2) and emerged victorious with a unanimous-decision victory. The title fight – one of two on the card – took place at Arena Theatre in Houston, and the main card aired on AXS TV. As with other rounds in the fight, which earned Anders the inaugural LFA 185-pound belt, both title hopefuls had their moments

Two title fights and a pro debut that’s likely to draw plenty of eyeballs are set for LFA 14. Officials recently announced the seven bouts for the June 23 card, which airs on AXS TV from Arena Theatre in Houston. The headliner will crown the organization’s inaugural middleweight champion.
