The UFC ’s champions are getting busy. With nearly every champion in the promotion already lined up for a fight or just coming off of a defense, that left UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson as the only titleholder sitting idly by, waiting for his next defense. Johnson is no longer waiting, as UFC president Dana White announced via UFC Tonight on Wednesday that Demetrious Johnson would put his belt on the line in a rematch against Joseph Benavidez at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale . Johnson (18-2-1) is fresh off of his UFC on Fox 8 main event victory over John Moraga in September in July.

RIO DE JANEIRO – If Glover Teixeira (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) plays his cards right, his next fight may earn him a shot at the UFC’s light heavyweight title. UFC exec Marshall Zelaznik revealed at Saturday night’s post-UFC 163 press conference in Rio de Janeiro that UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva told him an impressive win by Teixeira in his upcoming bout with Ryan Bader (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) could earn him a crack at the belt. “Dana and Joe have confirmed with a strong victory by Glover that he probably gets the winner of the Jon Jones fight,” Zelaznik said. Teixeira and Bader meet in the headlining bout of next month’s UFC Fight Night 28 event, which takes place Sept. 4 at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Teixeira, who’s won 19 consecutive fights overall and four straight since joining the UFC, awaits his next challenge following a first-round submission victory over James Te Huna this past month at UFC 160. Teixeira (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC), who’s ranked No. 7 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA light-heavyweight rankings , knows he probably needs another win or two to get a crack at the belt, but if a Jones fight actually materialized? “I am very confident,” he said this past weekend in Brazil. “If my next fight was against Jones, for sure I would go in to win. I give myself a 99 percent chance (of winning).” But with fellow contender Gustafsson all but assured the bout, Teixeira is focusing elsewhere
