As if the brawl involving Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 296 wasn’t wild enough, a close spectator has made some even crazier revelations about the encounter. The UFC’s final event of the year saw numerous stars take center stage. Leon Edwards and Alexandre Pantoja defended their titles, Bryce Mitchell suffered one of the most terrifying knockouts in recent history, and Paddy Pimblett continued his unbeaten run inside the octagon, but arguably neither of those was the main talking point when the dust settled. Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis got into a fight cage-side and had to be separated by security, with video footage showing the crazy altercation . BJJ star Craig Jones was up close and personal to the exchange and has revealed some wild truths about exactly what happened. “His immediate presence was already f***ing pretty chaotic,” Jones said about Strickland in a recent episode of the El Segundo Podcast.

Volkanovski (26-2 MMA, 13-1 UFC) will step in on less than two weeks’ notice to rematch lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (24-1 MMA, 13-1 UFC) next Saturday, Oct. 21 in Abu Dhabi. Jones, a multiple-time IBJJF world championship medalist and 2019 ADCC runner up, isn’t sold on Sambo as a martial art, and hopes Volkanovski proves how ineffective it is by beating Makhachev.

Craig Jones chokes out Alex Jones live during podcast (Video)

Alex Jones finally got someone to choke him out on-air – and it was none other than Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Craig Jones. The infamous podcast host Alex Jones is best known for his controversial political views and conspiracy theories, hosting the Info Wars podcast for the past several years. He’s also a noted good friend of UFC commentator Joe Rogan, and has made several appearances on Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” One of those podcasts took place alongside Eddie Bravo, who Jones asked to choke him out on-air during the show. Rogan quickly put a stop to that, instructing Bravo not to actually choke Jones out during the program. Bravo instead playfully put Jones in a rear-naked choke hold, but never actually applied pressure. This was just one of several memorable moments from the five-hour long 2019 episode

Jones, a multiple-time IBJJF world championship medalist and 2019 ADCC runner up, has been an integral part of Alexander Volkanovski’s camp for his title fight against lightweight champion Makhachev, which headlines Saturday’s UFC 284 event at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+. Although Makhachev (23-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) has 11 career submissions – including his title-winning arm-triangle choke of Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 in October, Jones doesn’t rate his technique too highly.
