The war of words between UFC light heavyweights Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva has been in full swing since Sonnen’s victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 event in Boston earlier this month. Moments after defeating Shogun – a former training partner of Silva’s – Sonnen took to the post-fight microphone and had a few words for “The Axe Murderer.” “Wanderlei Silva, 6-feet tall, 205 pounds; boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high,” he yelled into the microphone. “Wanderlei Silva, three months, you and the bad guy.” Sonnen then strolled out of the cage and the MMA world was set a blaze with another fiery promo from the “Gangster from West Linn.” Silva, who apparently wanted the fight as well, was game for the showdown and made it very clear that he wanted the fight.

Chael Sonnen surprised many by submitting Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC Fight Night 26 on Saturday night in Boston. Hardly anyone, however, could be counted as startled that he immediately took aim at Wanderlei Silva , calling out the former Pride FC champion following his victory. “Wanderlei Silva, six feet tall and 205 pounds, boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high,” he declared. “Wanderlei Silva, three months, you and the bad guy.” The funny thing is, now that Sonnen has defeated Shogun, proving that he is still a fighter to be contended with at the top of either the 205-pound or 185-pound division, everyone wants to fight him.

Chris Weidman Coach Believes Anderson Silva is Going to Have a “Bad Night” in Rematch

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman ended Anderson Silva’s seven-year reign atop the middleweight division at UFC 162 on July 6 by knockout. The two are set to rematch on Dec. 28 at UFC 168, and Weidman’s coach, Ray Longo, thinks it’s going to be another bad night for Silva. “This guy had a highlight reel that would scare the crap out of anybody. Now, knowing that he can knock this guy out – you’ve seen it in boxing a hundred times, guys don’t come back from that type of knockout. On top of that, the guy is 40 or 39 or whatever he is. I don’t see it,” Longo told MMAWeekly.com content partner Shameless Radio about the rematch. Longo expects Weidman to have even more confidence heading into their second fight, now equipped with the knowledge of what to expect. “I think Weidman is going to go in more confident than he was in the first fight. With ‘Body Issue’ news, Miesha Tate laughs off hypocrisy talk, stands by claims

One year after chastising UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) for a decision she feels was hypocritical, Miesha Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is standing by her words. If you think that makes her a hypocrite, as well, Tate recommends you review her original claims. “I never said it was hypocritical for Ronda to pose nude for ‘The Body Issue,’” Tate said. “I said it was hypocritical for her to talk crap about the octagon girls posing nude in Playboy and then go pose nude for ESPN. That was my only qualm. “I feel like people will hear what they want to hear, but honestly, I had no issue with her being in ‘The Body Issue.’ I thought it was a great issue. I thought the photos were very nice and tastefully done, as ESPN always strives for.” Rousey, of course, was featured in the 2012 edition of the annual ESPN the Magazine special edition several months after criticizing UFC octagon girls such as Brittney Palmer and Arianny Celeste for appearing completely nude in Playboy. While athletes in ‘The Body Issue’ do pose nude, sporting equipment and creative camera angles are used to to ensure the most sensitive areas remain private
