SEATTLE – Miesha Tate must first see whether she’s able to avenge a gruesome submission loss to now-UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey , who took her Strikeforce belt and set the stage for for her rise to stardom. After replacing the injured Cat Zingano , she’ll get a chance to do that when the two rematch at UFC 168 on Dec. 28 in Las Vegas, which follows a stint serving as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 18.” But fans also are interested to know what will happen next if she’s able to pull off the upset. Should Rousey win, most would say that a superfight with newly minted Invicta FC featherweight champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (12-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) would be closer than ever. The logical follow-up to that possibility, which was broached on Friday during a Q&A session with Tate at KeyArena in Seattle, is what would happen if Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is able to pull off the upset. Rousey is a huge favorite to win the fight, with early lines making her an 11-1 favorite. But Tate said she’s calling in a decorated judo player to help prepare her for the grappling skills of “Rowdy.” Besides, upsets are all too common when people start to make fights before they could potentially happen.

Former Strikeforce women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino captured her second major title on Saturday night in the main event of Invicta FC 6 in Kansas City, Mo. Justino stopped Marloes “Rumina” Coenen for the second time to claim the inaugural Invicta FC 145-pound championship. Justino (12-1) was in complete control of Saturday’s rematch and pay-per-view headliner from start to finish. She battered Coenen (21-6) with punches, knees and brutal slams that kept the Dutch standout on the defensive throughout the one-sided fight. Coenen did threaten with a kneebar in Round 2, but Justino easily escaped and she scored with more big punches on the feet

Headlining title challengers Marloes Coenen (21-5) and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos (11-1) are now official for Saturday Invicta FC 6 event. Coenen, Santos and the rest of the card hit the scales at today’s official weigh-in ceremony, which took place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The same venue hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view event. Coenen and Santos, who meet in a rematch of their 2010 Strikeforce matchup, compete for the inaugural Invicta FC featherweight title. They lead a 10-fight main card that airs on pay-per-view. An additional three fights stream free prior to the featured bouts.
