At Bellator 290 on Feb. 4 in Inglewood, Calif., 16 of the 28 fighters on the card gained more than 10 percent of their weight back. Two of those 16 exceeded the 15 percent threshold. MMA Junkie obtained a list of fight-night weights Monday from California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster. In California, fighters have their weights checked on fight day – not solely when they have to hit their marks on the scale. The extra procedure was instituted in 2017 as part of the commission’s efforts to cut back on excessive weight cutting

In addition to being the organization’s debut showcase on CBS, the card marked the retirement fight of legendary former PRIDE champion Fedor Emelianenko (40-7 MMA, 4-3 BMMA), who suffered a first-round TKO loss to heavyweight titleholder Ryan Bader (31-7 MMA, 9-2 BMMA) in their main event rematch.

Bellator returned from a six-week hiatus on Saturday with Bellator 285 , which went down at 3Arena in Dublin and featured a 13-fight lineup on the card. The main event featured a dominant performance from former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (30-11 MMA, 7-6 BMMA), who shut down Ireland’s Peter Queally (13-7 MMA, 2-3 BMMA) over the course of five rounds to win a unanimous decision and begin his late-career push toward the title.

Among those who squared off were headliners Benson Henderson (29-11 MMA, 6-6 BMMA) and Peter Queally (13-6-1 MMA, 2-2 BMMA), who are set to compete in a five-round lightweight bout. Also on the card, former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero (14-6 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) serves as the final test for Melvin Manhoef (32-15-1 MMA, 4-4 BMMA), a combat sports legend expected to compete in his last MMA bout.

Bellator 285 adds Albrektsson vs. Moore, Poclit vs. Schiro to Dublin lineup

The lineup for Bellator’s return to Ireland this fall continues to grow with the addition of two more fights. Sweden’s Karl Albrektsson (13-3 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) will take on Ireland’s Karl Moore (9-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) in a light heavyweight bout at Bellator 285. And at welterweight, Dante Schiro (8-3 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) will take on Luca Poclit (6-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), an SBG Ireland fighter who will make his Bellator debut on his home turf. The promotion announced the two new matchups Thursday.

HONOLULU – MMA Junkie was on scene and reported from Thursday’s official Bellator 278 fighter weigh-ins, which took place at the Bellator host hotel. Among those who weighed in were women’s flyweight champion Juliana Velasquez (12-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) and challenger Liz Carmouche (16-7 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), who meet in the main event. The two title fight competitors were the first to the scale. A rapid-fire stream of fighters from the rest of the card followed, but fizzled out until the room awaited solely Manny Muro (12-7 MMA, 2-1 BMMA), who fights Nate Andrews (16-4 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) in a 160-pound contract weight bout on the main card. With four minutes left in the window, Muro weighed in at 160.4. Since 160 pounds is a specially-contracted weight, there is no pound allowance
