The UFC traveled to Brazil for the fourth time this year on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 51 from Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia. In the main event, Andrei Arlovski (23-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC) picked up his first knockout in UFC competition since March 2008 with a first-round stoppage of hometown hero Antonio Silva (18-6-1 MMA, 2-3-1 UFC). “The Pit Bull” is now 2-0 inside the octagon since returning to the UFC in June. The win pushed Arlovski further up the list in several meaningful statistical categories, but he wasn’t the only one to accomplish a feat of note

BRASILIA, Brazil – Godofredo Pepey (11-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) continues to deliver thrills inside the octagon. It took the veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” a few minutes to find an opening, but when he did, he finished Dashon Johnson (9-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in highlight-reel fashion. The featherweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 51 event at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. The fight’s end came at the 4:29 mark of the first round after several minutes of relative inaction between the fighters. A few power punches was the only offense to speak of, and it appeared Pepey and Johnson were cautious.

Hardcores can watch, too, and they don’t have to worry if UFC President Dana White will question your loyalty if they don’t. Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 51 headliner between heavyweights Antonio Silva and Andrei Arlovski is the rematch no one asked for, but it keeps the promotion’s motor running in Brazil and pads traffic for UFC Fight Pass, hopefully without those pesky satellite interruptions to bog down the action. And hey, it could be another barnburner on the order of Silva’s most recent octagon appearance, a draw with Mark Hunt that was an instant classic before the Brazilian’s extra shot of testosterone wiped it from the record books. Silva is back after a nine-month layoff courtesy of a UFC suspension, and he takes the role reserved for so many headliners in Brazil: the favorite there to do his country proud.

A heavyweight rematch between Antonio Silva (18-5-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) and Andrei Arlovski (22-10 MMA, 11-4 UFC) headlines this week’s UFC Fight Night 51 event, a UFC Fight Pass offering that marks the organization’s fourth trip to Brazil this year. Saturday’s fight card streams from Brasilia’s Nilson Nelson Gymnasium and sees “Bigfoot” and “Pitbull” face off in a rematch of a 2010 meeting between the Brazilian and Belarusian. The two fighters have traveled very different paths in the four years since that first fight. Arlovski bounced around different organizations, where he went 7-2, while Silva has fought exclusively for UFC and Strikeforce, going 4-3-1 in the same stretch. Outside of the main event, nearly half the UFC Fight Night 51 competitors have at least five UFC appearances to their name. The UFC’s September return to Brazil is a couple steps closer to completion with the addition of a lightweight clash and a featherweight tilt. Brazil’s Gleison Tibau (29-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) is set to meet Piotr Hallman (15-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at 155 pounds, while Godofredo Pepey (10-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) takes on Dashon Johnson (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at 145. UFC officials recently announced the fight bookings for UFC Fight Night 51. UFC Fight Night 51, which features a headlining rematch between heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Silva, takes place Sept. 13 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
