Dave Herman says police endangered his family, treated him ‘like a dog’

Filed under: News It’s been a wild few days for former UFC and Bellator fighter Dave Herman . After making news for being Tased and arrested after a “police chase,” video of the encounter was released by Herman’s wife . That video turned the situation into a story that was picked up by several mainstream sports outlets, as well as several libertarian leaning sites. The video showed Herman out of his car repeatedly telling police he didn’t know them, asking for their identification, and asking, “Who are you?,” which elicited the blunt response of, “We’re the police.” The situation continued with Herman insisting the law says the police must produce three pieces of identification and, after having put his hands on his head as officers had requested, lowering his hands and taking a step at them – at which point a Taser was used to subdue him. Herman was released from the Dekalb County (Ind.) jail Wednesday afternoon. Today, he gave MMAjunkie some insight into his time there and the ordeal.

Filed under: Featured , Featured Videos , News Veteran MMA heavyweight Dave Herman remains in jail after Indiana police arrested him early Tuesday morning. Herman, 30, is being charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery, and neglect of a dependent – all “level 6″ felonies – and resisting law enforcement, a misdemeanor, according to an incarceration sheet released by the DeKalb County Police Department. Herman is being held without bond at the Dekalb County (Ind.) Jail. A call to the department’s sheriff was not immediately returned, but a rep from the Dekalb County prosecutor’s office said the fighter will be formally charged today

UFC and Bellator vet Dave Herman arrested after police chase

Dave Herman , a former UFC and Bellator MMA fighter who most recently competed for Titan FC, was arrested early Monday morning in Indiana after leading police on a chase. Herman faces three felony charges, including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and battery against law enforcement, and a misdemeanor charge. According to an incident report issued by the Dekalb County Sheriff Department, Herman was speeding on I-69 with no headlights or taillights on. When officers attempted to pull him over, Herman initially refused to pull over before finally stopping at a gas station, the report states. According to the report: “David exited his vehicle and approached Officers in an aggressive manner.

Dave Herman out, Jack May meets Jon Madsen for heavyweight title at Titan FC 32

Jack May This month’s Titan FC 32 card has seen a change in its championship main event. Dave Herman (22-6) is out of his fight for the vacant heavyweight title against fellow UFC vet Jon Madsen (8-1). Instead, another UFC vet, Jack May (7-2) will move up the card into the title fight.

The heavyweight title will be on the line the next time Titan FC goes to work. UFC veterans Dave Herman (22-6) and Jon Madsen (8-1) will meet for the heavyweight strap at Titan FC 32 later this month in Georgia. Promotion officials announced the event and headliner during Friday night’s Titan FC 31 broadcast. Titan FC 32 will take place Nov. 20 at James Brown Arena in Augusta, Ga. Herman (22-6) meets Walt Harris (7-3) at Titan FC 30 on Sept. 26 in Cedar Park, Texas. The event takes place at Cedar Park Center and airs on CBS Sports Network. Most fighters would takea co-main-event slot extremely seriously, but Herman said he’s spent absolutely zero time in a traditional MMA training environment. Instead, he insists he’s purely hit the weight rack in attempt to bulk up for his physically larger opponent.

Titan FC 28 fills up with UFC veterans, including Herman, Brilz, Magalhaes

Titan Fighting Championship’s next card has started to fill up with a group of big-show veterans. Titan FC 28 is set for April 25 and will have a main card on CBS Sports Network. The Kansas-based promotion has not yet announced a specific venue or city for the event, however. A planned fight between UFC veteran lightweights George Sotiropolous and Mike Ricci didn’t materialize, but four other fights are set, the promotion recently confirmed. Ricky Legere (18-4) will take on Todd Moore (16-5) at welterweight; Dave Herman (21-6) meets D.J.
