Bellator, WEC veteran Dave Jansen signs 4-fight deal with Fight Nights Global

Former Bellator tournament winner and 10-year professional Dave Jansen (20-4) has signed a multi-fight deal with Russia’s Fight Nights Global. FNG officials today confirmed the four-fight contract with MMAjunkie, though financial terms of the agreement were not provided. “The Fugitive” is expected to debut in either July or August an as-yet-unannounced FNG event. An Oregon native, 37-year-old Jansen kicked off his career in 2007 and rattled off 13 consecutive wins to start his professional run, which included WEC and M-1 Global bouts

Seven fighters have been cut from Bellator’s roster, as MMAjunkie was able to confirm with promotion officials today. The list includes 12-fight veteran Mike Richman (18-6 MMA, 7-5 BMMA) , currently serving a two-year suspension after a failed drug test , and former title challenger Dave Jansen (20-4 MMA, 7-2 BMMA), who snapped a seven-fight winning streak with back-to-back losses to then-champ Will Brooks and, more recently, Marcin Held. Other promotional veterans who no longer fight under the Bellator banner are Mikkel Parlo (13-2 MMA, 4-3 BMMA), Raphael Butler (9-2-1 MMA, 4-2-1 BMMA) and Houston Alexander (16-14-1 MMA, 1-3-1 BMMA). With two consecutive setbacks since joining the promotion last year, former “King of Pancrase” Isao Kobayashi (18-4-4 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) is also on the list, as well as MMA veteran Thiago Goncalves Jambo – who, following an unsuccessful debut, announced his retirement earlier today on social media. Officials today announced a women’s featherweight bout between former Strikeforce champion Marloes Coenen (23-6 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) and Alexis Dufresne (5-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) has been elevated from the preliminary card to the televised main card (via Twitter ): #Bellator155 Note: Coenen-Dufresne will now be on the main card in TV spot #2, Jansen/Held has been moved to the featured preliminary slot. — C.J. Tuʇʇle (@kidceej) May 17, 2016 Coenen initially was slated to fight Julia Budd (8-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA), who recently withdrew from the event with an injury, for the organization’s inaugural women’s 145-pound championship.
