Dean Barry is not buying that his opponent Mike Jackson was unable to continue fighting. The UFC newcomer thinks Jackson exaggerated the fouls sustained during their welterweight contest at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 205 in Las Vegas. Barry (4-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) lost his UFC debut via disqualification. Jackson was awarded the win after he was unable to continue fighting due to an eye gouge he sustained. The eye gouge wasn’t the only foul, as Jackson was also hit in the groin with a spinning back kick earlier in the round

UFC Fight Night 205 proved to be one of the promotion’s more exciting events of the year. Saturday’s card from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas featured eight stoppages out of 11 fights. None of those finishes, however, was more significant than the one produced by former champion Jessica Andrade (23-9 MMA, 14-7 UFC), who locked up a historic standing arm-triangle choke submission on Amanda Lemos (11-2-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the headlining bout. Mike Jackson has had an unusual career in the UFC thus far, but his story isn’t finished yet. On April 23, Jackson (0-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will return to action for the first time since UFC 225 in June 2018 when he fought CM Punk. After multiple failed bookings, he’ll finally fight Irish debutant Dean Barry (4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a welterweight battle. The event does not currently have a publicly-announced location or venue.

Dean Barry vs. Mike Jackson postponed from UFC Fight Night event on Jan. 20

Dean Barry has announced his planned matchup with Mike Jackson won’t be going down on its originally scheduled date. Barry (3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) took to social media on Friday to reveal his welterweight showdown with Jackson (1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), originally set for UFC Fight Night on Jan. 20, won’t be coming to fruition on that date. Additional details were not provided by Barry, but indicated it was issue with Jackson that caused the delay.

Mike Jackson is getting a third opportunity to fight in the UFC as he’s scheduled to welcome newcomer Dean Barry to the promotion in January. Jackson (1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who hasn’t fought since his unanimous decision win over former WWE star CM Punk at UFC 225 in June 2018, has agreed to fight Barry (3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on an upcoming UFC Fight Night event. Multiple people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie on Tuesday. The people requested anonymity because UFC has yet to make an official announcement. The UFC Fight Night event takes place Jan. 20 on “Fight Island” in Yas Island in Abu Dhabi
