A bantamweight match-up between former The Ultimate Fighter contestants Alex Careres and Roland Delorme has been added to UFC 165, finalizing the fight card with 13 bouts. Caceres (8-5, 1 no contest) appeared on the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter as a lightweight. Following the conclusion of the show, he moved to the featherweight division. After losing his first two fights in the UFC , Caceres dropped down to the bantamweight division. He won three of his first four fights in the new weight class, defeating Cole Escovedo, Damacio Page and Motonobu Tezuka. His one loss in the 135-pound division was by split decision to Edwin Figueroa.

Bantamweights Roland Delorme (9-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Alex Caceres (8-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will meet at next month’s UFC 165 event in the show’s 13th matchup. UFC officials recently announced the bout. UFC 165 takes place Sept. 21 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Delorme’s grappling was the deciding factor despite Figueroa’s stubborn refusal to be finished on the mat. The bantamweight bout was part of today’s UFC 161 event at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. After nearly a year on the bench due to surgery on his arm, Roland Delorme returns to the cage to meet Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161. He already believes it’s a matchup that’s tailor-made. “I’ve seen all his fights in the UFC,” Delorme (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “There’s no secret that his ground game is not that good. He doesn’t defend the takedown very well. And that’s what I’m good at. What he’s really bad at, I’m good at.” It’s not that Delorme thinks Figueroa (9-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has no skills on the ground, but rather bad habits that could make his job easier when they meet on the FX-televised prelims of the pay-per-view event, which takes place Saturday at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. “He gives his back a lot,” Delorme said of Figueroa.
