Fabricio Werdum Wants to Wait For Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos Winner

UFC heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum wants to wait for the winner of champion Cain Velasquez and former titleholder Junior dos Santos . UFC Tonight recently reported the 36-year-old’s desire to wait for a title shot. Werdum (17-5-1) has won his three fights in the UFC since returning to the organization in February 2012, defeating Roy Nelson , Mike Russow and former champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira . The Brazilian also has notable wins over Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Alistair Overeem . Werdum last competed on June 8, and expects to be back in action in February or March, but has no problems waiting a bit longer for a title shot. Velasquez and dos Santos fight for a third time at UFC 166 on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston. They split their two previous meetings

That’s when the Bellator MMA CEO will cross two things off his bucket list: Seeing a fight between former champions Quinton Jackson (32-11 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) and Tito Ortiz (16-11-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), and putting on his company’s first pay-per-view event. Rebney long has talked about his desire to delve into the pay-per-view landscape with Bellator.

Paul Daley open to UFC return after president Dana White expresses doubts

Paul Daley is ready and willing to return to the UFC. Whether Dana White is on the same page is another matter. “I thought he hated this place,” White said when he was asked Saturday whether he was interested in the fighter. “I don’t know, man. I don’t think so.” Daley, who this past week was released by Bellator MMA, took to Facebook soon after to erase any doubts of his desire to return to the promotion. “Given the opportunity Dana, I would be right back in there, please just send me that contract,” he wrote. White, however, is skeptical. “I heard he couldn’t get a visa,” he said of the English fighter. “And they’re real strict here now on visas. I thought he hated the UFC and said he’d never want to come back here and never wanted to fight here again.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has inspired up and coming fighters all over the world, including his UFC 162 opponent Chris Weidman . Having accomplished all there is to accomplish in mixed martial arts, Silva’s legacy is now being a role model. Weidman has stated that he admires Silva and his desire to fight the champion has fueled him throughout his undefeated career. “I changed the life of Chris Weidman because Weidman fights for the belt Saturday. This is good. This is my legacy. This is more important for me,” said Silva during the UFC 162 open workouts on Wenesday. “This is very important. Weidman has a big chance on Saturday. This is very important. This is the sport. This is the UFC. It’s the best sport in the world.” Many feel Weidman may be the guy to dethrone the greatest fighter of all time and that Chael Sonnen provided a blueprint on how to do it. “Chael is Chael, Weidman is Weidman,” said Silva. “The UFC has the best fighters in the world. Anderson Silva: “I’ve Always Wanted to Test Myself Against Roy Jones”

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has publically stated over the last couple of years that he’d like to fight boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match at some point. On June 7, Jones Jr. told TMZ.com that he would “love to do it.” During a UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman media conference call on Tuesday, Silva reiterated his desire to fight the 44-year-old former boxing champion. “Of course I want to fight him. Maybe after this fight with Weidman, regardless of the outcome, I would love to fight him. He’s already said that he would fight me also, so that’s something that I would really like to happen,” said the UFC champion. “I feel that his boxing style is one that I’d like to test myself against. I’ve always been a fan of his, and I just always wanted to test myself against Roy Jones.” Silva recently signed a 10-fight deal with the UFC, but at 38-years-old it’s uncertain if he’ll be able to fulfill the contract. “There’s a lot of possibilities of different things that could happen. But that’s a fight that I’ve always wanted. That’s a fight that I still want. We’re going to have to see how everything plays out and wait for the next chapter of Anderson Silva and the UFC,” said Silva. “Everything is a possibility, but really it’s going to come down to my willpower and my desire to still be fighting. I have a lot of other things that I want to do. I have other desires, and one of those is fighting Roy Jones. But we’re just going to have to see how things work out in the next few fights and how I feel,” he added.

During a media teleconference today in support of UFC 162, Silva denied that he called the UFC president post-UFC 159 to request his next opponent, which White then hinted to be the light-heavy champ. “I think everyone already knows that I didn’t call Dana,” Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC) said. “I don’t even have his phone number personally.” That’s news to White, who today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Silva did call him following the April 27 event in Newark, N.J.
