Elora Dana stepped onto the biggest stage of her career to date and delivered at 2025 PFL World Tournament 2 . In a preliminary card bout in the women’s flyweight tournament Friday in Orlando, Fla., Dana (8-0) made quick work of former Bellator standout Diana Avsaragova (6-2), as she submitted the Russian fighter with a neck crank at 4:48 of Round 1. Dana advances to the semifinal round of her divisional tournament and will face off with one of the other combatants competing on Friday’s card

The PFL on Friday announced its latest pair of tournament fields for its first year under a revamped format. At women’s flyweight, the field is filled up with many fighters who are familiar with each other. A pair of former Bellator champions, Liz Carmouche (22-8) and Juliana Velasquez (13-3), are in the field. They’re notable for their Bellator trilogy, in which Carmouche gave Velasquez all three of her losses, including two in title fights.

The 2025 PFL women’s flyweight tournament will feature eight fighters – but Dakota Ditcheva is not one of them. Tuesday, the promotion announced the roster will include former Bellator women’s flyweight champions Liz Carmouche (22-8) and Juliana Velasquez (13-3), and former UFC title challenger Taila Santos (22-4) as well as Bellator alumni Kana Watanabe (13-3-1), Ilara Joanne (12-9), Jena Bishop (7-2), and Diana Avsaragova (6-1). Additionally, the promotion has signed Jungle Fight champion Elora Dana (7-0), who will make her promotional debut in the tournament. The women’s flyweight tournament will be single elimination with $1 million going to the winning fighter. It kicks off April 11 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., and airs on ESPN2/ESPN+.

Cris Lencioni officially pulled from James Gallagher fight as Bellator 298 adds five new bouts

The Bellator 298 lineup unsurprisingly has lost a fight while gaining five others. In a press release announcing the five new bouts Thursday, Bellator also removed James Gallagher vs. Cris Lencioni from the lineup. While the release made no mention of Lencioni’s removal, a promotion official confirmed to MMA Junkie that he won’t compete at Bellator 298 after it was revealed last week that the 28-year-old is in intensive care following a cardiac arrest suffered in training. There haven’t been any updates on his condition since. Bellator intends to find a replacement for Gallagher, who hasn’t competed since a submission loss to current interim bantamweight champion Patchy Mix in November 2021.

The unbeaten Russian prospect is glad she beat former title challenger Alejandra Lara at Bellator 290, but not happy with the conditions under which she came into the fight. Avsaragova (6-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) missed the women’s flyweight by nearly three pounds (128.8) Friday at the official weigh-ins. “I want to apologize to (Lara) for missing weight, and I also want to apologize to Bellator and the fans,” Avsaragova said at the Bellator 290 post-fight news conference. “It was a great fight for me

Bellator kicks off its 2023 schedule on Saturday with a landmark event in company history. Bellator 290 , which takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., marks the company’s main card network debut on CBS, which follows prelims streamed on MMA Junkie. A championship doubleheader is set to headline the card. In the main event, Ryan Bader (30-7 MMA, 8-2 BMMA) will put his heavyweight title fight against MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko (40-6 MMA, 4-2 BMMA), who is set to retire from MMA competition. The pair previously met at Bellator 214 in January 2019, with Bader scoring a 35-second TKO victory . A key women’s flyweight bout is the latest addition to Bellator 290 . Undefeated Diana Avsaragova will face the toughest test of her career when she meets former title challenger Alejandra Lara on Feb. 4 at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Two people with knowledge of the situation, including a Bellator official, informed MMA Junkie of the fight booking Tuesday. Avsaragova (5-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) and Lara (9-6 MMA, 3-5 BMMA) have been on different career trajectories of late. Avsaragova, 24, made her Bellator debut in 2021 and has won all three of her promotional bouts, including a knockout in her debut and two decisions.
