Following his win at UFC 319, Khamzat Chimaev received mixed reviews from fighters and fans. However, the one-sided display from Chimaev earned the praises of Israel Adesanya . While everybody knew of his talent, many believed that one of the major vulnerabilities of ‘Borz’ was his five-round cardio.

A new middleweight champion was crowned in the UFC 319 main event on Saturday at the United Center in Chicago. Khamzat Chimaev kept his undefeated record intact and took the title from Dricus Du Plessis in one-sided fashion. For five rounds, Chimaev consistently took Du Plessis down and controlled him from there. Each round was a wash and repeat of the previous round. Chimaev put Du Plessis in a crucifix position, unable to defend himself, several times.

Bellator 98 Results: Alexander Shlemenko Outduels Brett Cooper to Retain Title

Bellator 98 suffered several bumps in the road en route to finally taking place on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., but eventually did take place with the Bellator middleweight championship on the line. Alexander Shlemenko defended his belt, winning a unanimous decision over Brett Cooper, who stepped into the fight as a replacement for the injured Doug Marshall. Shlemenko established his dominance early with his stand-up game, landing with greater frequency and greater power than Cooper.

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones will move to heavyweight, but he might not do it as soon as expected. “Oh, eventually,” he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Tuesday. “I’m getting older, I’m growing, and I’m getting stronger. Why not? Yeah, for sure.” Jones was responding to a question of whether his plans had changed given his previous statements about a move upward. His dominance of the light heavyweight division has prompted questions about a move up to heavyweight, and the 26-year-old and his camp have spoken several times about the possibility. In January, he said it could happen as soon as 2014 .

Catchweight fights and bouts outside the fighter’s primary weight class can have a positive or negative impact on the ranking. However, fighters can be ranked in only one weight class at a given time, and in most cases, they won’t be ranked in a new weight class until they’ve had their first fight at that weight. LAS VEGAS – At the Las Vegas airport on Sunday morning, Anderson Silva was a popular topic of conversation. “He got knocked out, finally,” I overheard one ticket agent telling another. “Seriously?” replied the other man. Who could blame him for being a little skeptical, assuming he knew anything at all about Silva’s history of dominance? Here’s where the first was obliged to do a brief reenactment, complete with Silva’s fake wobbly legs, the quick jolt to the jaw that followed, that lolling head of the very recently concussed. I have to admit, it wasn’t a bad impression. Then again, it’s hard to do the fake wobbly legs better than Silva himself, who, let’s be honest, was doing a fantastic imitation of a wounded fighter right before he became an unconscious one
