Dana White’s Contender Series 23 took place Tuesday in Las Vegas, and we’re grading the winners from the five-fight card, which streamed on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. With a refreshing but digestible format that has had the MMA fanbase responding, this series has shown to have legs in multiple ways while serving as a crockpot for contenders whom the UFC matchmakers can use for future events. So, with that trend in mind, I will once again be taking a look at the winning fighters regardless of whether or not they won a UFC contract, grading their performances in regards to their probability of returning to a UFC stage. Dwight Joseph Weight class : Bantamweight Result : Grade : C+ Summary : Don’t let the letter grade fool you, as I still contend that Dwight Joseph arguably over-performed in this spot against Jay Perrin. Joseph, who came in as a slight underdog to Perrin, found himself taken down early and forced into exchanges with the slightly more experienced man. Nevertheless, Joseph was able to explode back to his feet and quietly punctuate the striking stanzas with counter lefts and body kicks.

LAS VEGAS – Venezuelan lightweight Omar Morales (8-0) kept his career record perfect, scoring an impressive second-round TKO over Harvey Park (12-3). The bout served as the featured contest of Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series 23 event, which streamed on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Morales was light on his feet to start, spinning his opponent with a low kick and then following with a big shot up top. Park was a bit more stationary in his approach and then elected to move to the clinch, driving a few attacks to the body before accidentally landing a knee to the groin.

Dakota Cochrane sent a hometown crowd into jubilance on Friday when he picked up a split decision over Ciro Rodrigues in the LFA 25 main event. The Nebraska-born fighter struggled at points in the fight, but a late rally from Cochrane (30-12) persuaded the judges to give him the nod over Rodrigues (21-7) in the AXS TV-televised welterweight headliner at The Ralston Arena in Omaha. It was a gritty fight throughout the entirety of 15 minutes
