As ONE Championship 84’s headliner wore on, it wasn’t at all clear whether Zebaztian Kadestam ’s somewhat patient approach would pay off against a gritty Tyler McGuire . However, just as it seemed like ONE Championship’s new welterweight titleholder was going to be decided in the judges’ scorecards, Kadestam (11-4) found what he’d been looking for. With about 30 seconds left in the fifth and final round, Kadestam dropped McGuire (11-1) with a massive right hand, which he followed up with a knee to secure the most notable win of his MMA career. ONE Championship 84 took place at Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. It streamed live on the ONE Championship app, following prelims on Facebook and Twitter.

The title Ben Askren left behind at ONE Championship will be up for grabs later this month. Promotion officials recently announced that Sweden’s Zebaztian Kadestam (10-4) will face undefeated American prospect Tyler McGuire (11-0) for the vacant title in the main event of ONE Championship 84, which takes place Nov. 17 at Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. As with all ONE Championship events, the night’s main card streams live on the ONE Championship app following prelims that stream live on Facebook and Twitter

ONE Championship was back in China this past weekend for a night of fights in multiple disciplines. “ONE Championship 76: Battle for the Heavens” featured muay Thai fights, kickboxing and MMA inside a ring. The event took place at Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China. In the MMA headliner, flyweight Reece McLaren (12-5) picked up a split-decision against Tatsumitsu Wada (19-9) and improved to 3-0 in the promotion since dropping down to 125 pounds from bantamweight. But one of the biggest performances on the MMA side of things came from Fu Changxin (8-1), who pounded out Rustem Ensebaev for a first-round TKO. The highlights for that fight can be seen in the video above and photo gallery just below.
