Demian Maia and Ryan LaFlare UFC Fight Night 62 was hit hard by injuries, but the end result will see a welterweight headliner in the organization’s 21st event in Brazil. Demian Maia (19-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) battles Ryan LaFlare (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) at the top of the 12-fight lineup set to take place at Rio de Janerio’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass.

Heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) traveled to another continent to fight in the TUF Brazil 3 Finale main event, and the result was a knockout of Fabio Maldonado (21-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) in the shortest fight of his UFC career. While the headlining contest ended in an expected and somewhat anticlimactic fashion, the rest of the FOX Sports 1-televised card had plenty of thrilling finishes. Seven of the 12 bouts at Sao Paulo’s Ibirapuera Gymnasium featured a knockout or submission while the latest winners of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series were also crowned. Edimilson ‘Kevin’ Souza meets Mark Eddiva at UFC Fight Night 42 in Brazil

The UFC is starting to build its May return to South America with the addition of a featherweight bout. Mark Eddiva (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will meet Brazil’s Edimilson Souza (14-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 42 in Brazil. Promotion officials announced the new bout on Wednesday, saying verbal agreements are in place. UFC Fight Night 42 takes place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event will be headlined by a fight between current “TUF: Brazil 3″ coaches Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen
