Dutch middleweight contender Reinier de Ridder booked himself into a ONE middleweight title fight with a victory over Brazilian contender Leandro Ataides at “ONE Championship 108: Warrior’s Code” on Friday in Jakarta, Indonesia. De Ridder (12-0) extended his perfect professional record after three bloody, hard-fought rounds against heavy-handed former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Ataides (11-4) to earn his shot at the ONE middleweight title held by two-division champion Aung La N Sang. De Ridder held the edge through the first round as he used his southpaw jab to good effect before closing the distance and sapping the Brazilian’s gas tank with extended clinch work and takedown attempts against the ring ropes. Both men were bloodied up in Round 2, with de Ridder sporting a cut above his left eyebrow and Ataides bleeding from the mouth as the pair went into the trenches and fought toe to toe for much of the round. It set up a tense final frame as both men battled back and forth in a vain search for a late finish, but it was de Ridder whose pressure proved crucial as he earned the unanimous decision after three punishing rounds at Istora Senayan. The victory means that de Ridder will be the next man to challenge Nsang for the ONE middleweight title, and “The Dutch Knight” had a message for “The Burmese Python” after his victory

ONE Championship 88 results: Adriano Moraes reclaims title from Geje Eustaquio in trilogy fight

In their third title fight, and the first trilogy fight in ONE Championship history, Adriano Moraes reclaimed the flyweight title from Geje Eustaquio . Moraes (18-3) took a unanimous decision from Eustaquio (11-7), the home country fan favorite, in a back-and-forth fight at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The card streamed on ONE Championship’s app. Moraes and Eustaquio first fought for the title in in September 2014, when Moraes submitted Eustaquio with a second-round guillotine choke.

A lightweight grand prix quarterfinal bout between former featherweight champ Honorio Banario (14-7) and undefeated Hawaiian Lowen Tynanes (9-0) is among a handful of additions to this month’s ONE Championship 88 in the Philippines. Promotion officials today announced the new contests for the Jan. 25 event, which takes place at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. As ONE Championship 84’s headliner wore on, it wasn’t at all clear whether Zebaztian Kadestam ’s somewhat patient approach would pay off against a gritty Tyler McGuire . However, just as it seemed like ONE Championship’s new welterweight titleholder was going to be decided in the judges’ scorecards, Kadestam (11-4) found what he’d been looking for. With about 30 seconds left in the fifth and final round, Kadestam dropped McGuire (11-1) with a massive right hand, which he followed up with a knee to secure the most notable win of his MMA career. ONE Championship 84 took place at Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. It streamed live on the ONE Championship app, following prelims on Facebook and Twitter.
