Rafael Lovato Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Rafael Lovato (3-0) toppled fellow submission ace Marcelo Nunes (5-1), scoring a second round TKO to claim Legacy FC’s vacant middleweight title. The contest served as the main event of Friday’s Legacy FC 54 event, which took place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa in Catoosa, Okla. The night’s main card aired on AXS TV. Lovato opened the fight with a flurry of kicks, allowing Nunes to take the action to the floor. However, Lovato calmly worked himself back to the feet and eventually reversed the position with a takedown of his own. The two continued to battle back and forth for position with some high-level grappling exchanges.

Legacy FC 38 card set with addition of nine pro bouts behind Njokuani-Gifford

Jason Sampson After announcing UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani as the headliner for Legacy FC 38, the February card now is complete with the addition of nine more pro bouts. Njokuani (15-9) meets Thomas Gifford (9-6) in the main event, and a bantamweight bout between Jason Sampson (11-1) and Joseph Sandoval (7-4) has joined the card in the co-feature spot. Legacy FC promoter and owner Mick Maynard today confirmed the bout, and eight others, to MMAjunkie.

Check out the video highlights as Damon Jackson took the featherweight belt from Leonard Garcia . Legacy FC 33 took place at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas, and the main card aired on AXS TV. Jackson (9-0) went to work quickly against Garcia (18-12-1), who was putting his 145-pound title on the line. He brutalized him with punches on the ground, then quickly wrapped up an arm-triangle choke, forcing the UFC and WEC veteran to tap his championship belt away.

After a knockout win in his Legacy Fighting Championship debut earlier this fall, Tim Means will return next month to headline Legacy FC 27. Means (19-5-1) will top the card against Aretenas Young (10-6) in a welterweight bout at Legacy FC 27, Legacy FC President Mick Maynard on Monday confirmed to MMAjunkie. Former UFC and Strikeforce heavyweight title challenger Paul Buentello (33-15) had been penciled in against Isaac Villanueva (7-7), but that fight appears to be on hold for the time being.
