RIO DE JANEIRO – Saturday’s UFC 163 pay-per-view event drew an announced attendance of 13,873 fans. No estimated live gate was announced. SEATTLE – Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event drew an announced attendance of 7,816 and a live gate of $735,000. UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga . The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. While the number of complimentary tickets issued was not revealed, the figures represent an average of $94.04 in revenue generated per ticket issued. The Washington State Department of Licensing is expected to release official attendance and gate numbers in the coming days.

SEATTLE – Demetrious Johnson , Melvin Guillard , Ed Herman and Trevor Smith each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 8 event. Johnson won “Submission of the Night,” Guillard earned the “Knockout of the Night” and Herman and Smith picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. UFC officials announced the winners at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle. The main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) dominated John Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) with 11 takedowns into the fifth round, but the flyweight champion continued to go after submissions. Deep in the fifth, Johnson went after an armbar and got it, forcing Moraga to tap with just 1:17 left in the fight for the latest submission in UFC history. Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) needed to rebound in a big way after back-to-back losses and four setbacks in his past five fights.

LAS VEGAS – The UFC will close out its pay-per-view calendar in 2013 with title fights in Toronto, Houston and Las Vegas, all made official on Saturday night. UFC President Dana White officially announced UFC 165, UFC 166, UFC 167 and UFC 168, which will take place over the last four months of the year. White made the announcement at the start of the post-event news conference for UFC 162 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. All four cards had been previously reported, but now are made official by the UFC. Prior to the those fights, the UFC will take the headliners from those cards on a multi-city press tour that will include the host cities, the headliners’ home cities and other key cities across the country.

UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. UFC 162 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. In the headliner, Chris Weidman upset longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva to become the new middleweight champion. Weidman knocked Silva out in the second round – after Silva taunted him and toyed with him. The Nevada State Athletic Commission will announce official attendance and gate figures in the coming week. But for now, the live gate total is the third highest UFC gate in MGM Grand Garden Arena history.

The head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission says criticism of officials won’t influence future assignments, to the contrary of UFC President Dana White’s recent comments. This past weekend following UFC 161, White blasted referee Steve Mazzagatti’s officiating in the World Series of Fighting 3 main event between Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman , saying Fitch’s safety was endangered when Mazzagatti failed to notice the fighter going unconscious from a guillotine choke early in the fight. (watch the Burkman vs. Fitch fight video .) At the same time, White lamented that his continued targeting of Mazzagatti would ensure the referee would continue to get big fights. “The Nevada State Athletic Commission will keep this guy around until he seriously hurts somebody,” White said to a small group of reporters following a post-event news conference for UFC 161, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. “That guy is dangerous.” Fitch found himself caught in the chokehold after a brief exchange of punches early in the fight, which took place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and was overseen by the NSAC. As Fitch staggered to the canvas, Burkman secured the submission and fell to his back. Fitch reached to free himself, but then went unconscious.
