The UFC has long made a show of what on the surface would appear to be predominantly a formality… the weigh-ins. UFC president Dana White would greatly beg to differ, saying that the weigh-ins and the ensuing staredowns are one the most important tells of how the fight will go down. “I am such a huge fan of the staredown,” said White at the recent UFC Fan Expo. “And, yes, it is one of the most important things leading up to the fight. “The two things I love the most in the fight business are the staredown and the fight itself.” White doesn’t just love the staredown because he’s a fight fan – although he is a huge fight fan – and gets to stand on stage with the fighters in the final moments they spend together before they throw down the next day. He believes that you can tell a great deal about a fighter by how they look and act during the staredown and weigh-in

Cung Le said he's waiting to hear whether his next career move involves fighting or coaching. At the moment, he doesn't know which one it will be. Le (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC), who his past November knocked out ex-champ Rich Franklin , said he still wants to fight Michael Bisping . And until recently, he was under the impression he would do so. "Before [Bisping's] last fight, my camp was talking to (UFC matchmaker) Joe (Silva) about a potential matchup, and they said that if he wins, it looks good," Le told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "Next thing I know, two or three days ago, I saw that Bisping was going to fight in October in England. "Even though I'm not 100 percent, I wasn't 100 percent in China, either. If they really needed me, they would have called me. I thought we were working something out, but obviously, the next day, the word was that they were targeting me to coach." The former Strikeforce champ might be referring to an MMAjunkie.com report earlier this month that stated he was targeted to coach on "The Ultimate Fighter: China," which is slated to debut in November and run for 12 episodes. Featherweight, lightweight and welterweight divisions are soon to audition for the show. Le thought that was the answer he was waiting for, but as he said, "no one's called me." "So I caught (UFC President) Dana (White) today (at the UFC Fan Expo), and he told me I'm on his call list," he added.

Ortiz was in Las Vegas for the UFC Fan Expo over the weekend, and perhaps he just caught the fight bug from all the excitement, but he has started tweeting some messages about a comeback. “Fighting is starting to sound fun again. #Peopleschamp #comeback #Positive body is almost healed,” he wrote on Saturday. But even after the Expo fervor died down and Ortiz had to get back into manager mode for his client Cris “Cyborg” Justino ’s upcoming Invicta FC 6 headlining bout with Marloes Coenen , he didn’t relent

We've heard this bit from Chael Sonnen (27-13-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC) before, but if the self-proclaimed "Gangster from West Linn, Oregon" is to be believed, he's waiting to sign a new contract before his headlining bout with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua – and he's apparently got a list of demands in hand. "My contract with the UFC has expired," Sonnen said during fan-driven Q&A session at this past weekend's UFC Fan Expo. "So I went to Dana White, and I went to him with a list of my demands because he's getting my contract together. He thought this was a gag, but I was being serious because it's not all about money with me." Sonnen, of course, remains one of the UFC's most outspoken characters. He frequently claimed in advance of his UFC July 2012 rematch with Anderson Silva that he hadn't signed a bout agreement, but the contest went on exactly as planned.

We’ve heard this bit from Chael Sonnen (27-13-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC) before, but if the self-proclaimed “Gangster from West Linn, Oregon” is to be believed, he’s waiting to sign a new contract before his headlining bout with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua – and he’s apparently got a list of demands in hand. “My contract with the UFC has expired,” Sonnen said during fan-driven Q&A session at this past weekend’s UFC Fan Expo. “So I went to Dana White, and I went to him with a list of my demands because he’s getting my contract together. He thought this was a gag, but I was being serious because it’s not all about money with me.” Sonnen, of course, remains one of the UFC’s most outspoken characters.
LAS VEGAS – Six weeks after Dana White first announced his intentions , the UFC president has now officially inducted retired light heavyweights Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar into the UFC Hall of Fame. White and longtime executive producer of "The Ultimate Fighter" Craig Piligian today made the pair's enshrinement official at a ceremony that took place at the promotion's UFC Fan Expo Las Vegas 2013 inside Sin City's Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Griffin and Bonnar were the light-heavyweight finalists on Season 1 of "The Ultimate Fighter." During the live finale, the two engaged in one of the most memorable slugfests in MMA history, with Griffin coming out ahead with a 29-28 unanimous-decision win. That fight is largely credited with fueling the UFC's meteoric rise in popularity around the globe, and White has long praised both fighters for their contributions to the company.
