ONE Championship creates more depth in its big January event by adding the return of champion Fabricio Andrade . At ONE 170 on Jan. 24 at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, Andrade (9-2) will defend his bantamweight (145 pounds) title for the first time against a familiar opponent, Won Il Kwon . The promotion directly confirmed the news of the matchup with MMA Junkie. The event is an Asian primetime card starting at 7:30 a.m. ET

ONE Championship has a new bantamweight king, and his name is Fabricio Andrade . Andrade (9-2 MMA, 6-0 ONE) ran it back with John Lineker in a championship rematch in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 7 . The event took place at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and aired on Amazon Prime Video. The pair first met with the title on the line in October at ONE on Prime Video 3, with unfortunate events occurring for both parties.

Fabricio Andrade is confident that if things remain on the feet with John Lineker , he takes him out. Andrade (8-2-1) will run things back with Lineker (35-9-1) for the vacant bantamweight title in the ONE on Prime Video 7 main event Feb. 25 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Their first fight this past October at ONE on Prime Video 3 was ruled a no contest after an accidental groin shot by Andrade rendered Lineker unable to continue. Because Lineker missed weight, he was stripped of his bantamweight title, so only Andrade was eligible to become champion. Prior to the unfortunate stoppage, Andrade boxed Lineker’s eye shut and had him hurt.

But the challenger has nothing to show for it after stupidly landing a low blow when he was seconds away from finishing the fight. Midway through the third round Andrade landed a knee to Lineker’s midsection and the former champion, who lost his title on the scales, was clearly done. The younger man rushed in to finish the fight but landed a follow up knee to the groin. It emerged that the knee was so hard it broke Lineker’s cup

John Lineker has been stripped of the ONE Championship bantamweight title after missing weight Thursday. Lineker lost the promotion’s 145-pound title on the scale after he weighed in at 145.5 on his first attempt and 145.75 on his second try ahead of his ONE on Prime Video 3 headliner vs. Fabricio Andrade , who did make weight. The weigh-in results were reported by the South China Morning Post .
