Following a successful 2012 campaign that saw him go 3-0 (with one no contest), lightweight up-and-comer Justin Harrington picked up his fourth win in a row this past March against Garry Winslow at ROTR 27 in quick fashion. “It was kind of quick,” said Harrington of his 57-second submission victory over Winslow. “With him I wanted to show more of what I’m about and bring a little bit more of my standing game because in my past couple of fights I’ve gotten away from what’s gotten me a lot of my wins, but he made the mistake and I had to capitalize on it.” As one of the Northwest’s top prospects, Harrington has been given an opportunity to showcase his skills in a feature bout on Saturday’s CageSport 26 event at the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife, Wash., in a rematch against Levi Peaslee of their July bout from last year

CageSport Champion Anthony Hamilton Ready to Stand Throw Down with Anyone

Following back-to-back wins to close out 2012, CageSport heavyweight champion Anthony Hamilton started off this year with his third win in a row by getting a 90-second arm bar submission of Will Courchaine at Rumble on the Ridge 27 in March. “I’ve been trying to stay more active, but that’s been tougher as I’ve moved up the ranks, so it was good to start 2013 with a win,” said Hamilton. “(The fight) didn’t last too long, so I didn’t take any injuries, and it’s always good to get in and out of there in a good fashion, so I was pretty happy about it.” The fight not only raised Hamilton’s winning streak to three in a row, it was also his third straight fight finishing a bout in less than two minutes. When asked if he feels he can gauge where he’s at with such quick performances or if he has to do that during training, Hamilton replied, “I train a lot down at Jackson’s in New Mexico, so it’s always a good gauge to see where you’re at training with guys like Jon Jones, Travis Browne, Frank Mir and guys like that.

Rory MacDonald said he’s only trying to please himself when it comes to expectations of where he’ll end up in the UFC’s welterweight division. Kicking off Saturday’s UFC 162 pay-per-view main card is an intriguing bout between featherweight contenders Dennis Siver (21-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) and Cub Swanson (19-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC). While Swanson, who’s overcome injuries to post a four-fight winning streak, has garnered much of the attention ahead of the Las Vegas event, it’s probably a good time to remember some of Siver’s early work in the UFC. Although the German fighter hasn’t posted a knockout win in nearly four years, his current 10-2 run includes some memorable spinning stuff back in 2009. In one of the bouts, against Nate Mohr , Siver kicked off his second UFC stint in thrilling fashion. Check out the video above for the stoppage. LAS VEGAS – UFC women’s bantamweight contender Miesha Tate soon will become the latest fighter to appear nude in ESPN the Magazine’s “Body Issue.” While the publication strives for artful shots done in a tasteful fashion, Tate admits her participation wasn’t a decision she took lightly. “I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous when they first approached me,” Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) told USA TODAY Sports. “It really took some quality group decision-making for me to do it. But now that I did it, it was an awesome experience, and I’m definitely very honored to be a part of this issue.” Tate is in Las Vegas filming Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” in which she serves as a team coach opposite her rival, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey .

Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks Pushed to November, Likely in Las Vegas

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks will not meet in October as originally anticipated. Instead, the welterweight championship showdown will take place in November, most likely in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White confirmed the November timeframe and Las Vegas location following the UFC 161: Evans vs. Henderson media day in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Thursday. Hendricks (15-1) solidified his slot as the clear No. 1 welterweight contender by defeating former interim titleholder Carlos Condit at UFC 158 in March. Hendricks is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. St-Pierre (24-2) last defended his title on the same UFC 158 fight card, defeating Nick Diaz in one-sided fashion. The champion is on an 11-fight winning streak.
