With five straight wins and an overall 13-2 record, Elvis “The King” Mutapcic is heading into Saturday’s World Series of Fighting as one of the promotion’s premier new additions. During his current streak, Mutapcic has defeated the likes of top prospects Cezar Ferreira and Joseph Henle, and most recently he outlasted Sam Alvey for the MFC 185-pound championship in February. “It felt good to know I had enough gas in the tank to go all five rounds,” said Mutapcic of his win over Alvey. “Once in a while it’s good to test yourself, and I really had to dig down deep to finish those rounds strong

“UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie” is in the books and in one of the most highly criticized pay-per-view fight cards of 2013, the UFC produced a mixed bag of knockouts, submissions, controversial judging and disfigured limbs. A Brazilian fighter had his hand raised in four of the five main card bouts as John Lineker , Thales Leites , Cezar Ferreira and, of course, Jose Aldo , defeated their respective opponents in impressive fashion. The lone non-Brazilian to score a victory on the pay-per-view was Phil Davis , who upset former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida in a decision that had many, including UFC President Dana White , up in arms. No matter the nature of each man’s victory, they all accomplished the ultimate goal of the sport, and that’s being declared the winner at the conclusion of the fight.

It didn’t take Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira to show why he was the winner of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil and Thiago “Marreta” Santos was out early during his stint on TUF 2. Ferreira and Santos squared off on the main card of UFC 163 at HSBC Arena on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro. Ferreira had been out of action since winning TUF Brazil last year at UFC 147, dealing with a couple of surgeries and relocating his camp to the Blackzilians, following his mentor Vitor Belfort to Florida. Cezar Ferreira landed it, Thiago Santos felt it, and it signaled the beginning of the end as Ferreira seized the opportunity to lock up a guillotine choke for the submission finish 47 seconds into the fight. The middleweight bout took place today at UFC 163 at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. It aired as part of the pay-per-view main card following prelims on FX and Facebook.
