Shortly after announcing a flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez for The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale, UFC officials unleashed another 125-pound showdown. Ali Bagautinov and Tim Elliott will square off at UFC 167 , the promotion’s 20th Anniversary show. Bagautinov (11-2) stormed into the UFC with a third-round TKO stoppage of Marcus Vinicius at UFC Fight Night 28 earlier this month.

XFC 26 set for Oct. 18, features Holtzman vs. Carroll, Casey vs. Gonzalez

“XFC 26: Night of Champions III” is set for Oct. 18 at Tennessee’s Nashville Municipal Auditorium, and a pair of title fights will be contested on the card. Xtreme Fighting Championships officials recently announced that lightweight champ Scott Holtzman (5-0) will defend his belt against Roger Carroll (11-9), while female contenders Cortney Casey (1-0) and Pearl Gonzales (1-1) will compete for the promotion’s inaugural women’s flyweight title. The evening’s main card airs on AXS TV.

Ian McCall (11-4-1 MMA, 0-2-1 UFC) likes to take momentary steps away from the drain of strategizing, and in advance of his fight at UFC 163 against Iliarde Santos (27-1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), he’s got some advice for flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson . It’s direct: Be cooler. “He’s a dork, man,” McCall told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “He’s a great athlete, don’t get me wrong. He’s just socially awkward. “But he’s getting better, and I say this as advice, because it would help his career and make him more money and fans would like him more.” UFC 163 takes place Saturday at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. McCall vs. Santos opens the FX-televised preliminary-card in advance of main card fights on pay-per-view. Johnson undoubtedly won over the crowd this past Saturday at UFC on FOX 8, where he earned the first stoppage of his title reign by tapping out John Moraga in the fifth round of their title fight. UFC President Dana White awarded the champ a “Submission of the Night” bonus and said true fight fans will get behind what he does in the octagon. The event, however, reportedly drew the lowest overall ratings of the UFC’s live events on FOX, despite winning key young male demographics. There are observers who say that no matter who is at the top of the lighter-weight divisions, big ratings and pay-per-views go to bigger men. While that or may not be the case, McCall said it couldn’t hurt to have someone with that “it” factor holding the belt. That, he said, is him, or Joseph Benavidez , who Johnson beat to win the flyweight title. McCall said he and Benavidez have a likability that might help people to care about the little-man class and thus get it more attention on the pay-per-view stage. Dodson and Johnson, he said, are the kind of fighters people love to hate. “I’m not sure why people don’t like [Johnson],” McCall said.

Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event officially drew an attendance of 8,967 and a live gate of $700,081. The Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw the event, today released the figures to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) and John Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. The total number of paid tickets for the event was 6,619

The Ultimate Fighting Championship released the attendance and gate figures for Saturday’s UFC on Fox 8: Johnson vs. Moraga event in Seattle at the post fight press conference. 7,816 spectators went to KeyArena to witness the 12-fight card, resulting in $735,000 in gate revenue. Demetrius Johnson defended his UFC flyweight title by submitting challenger John Moraga in the final round of the main event. Johnson’s speed and ability to get the fight to the ground kept Moraga neutralized throughout the championship bout. In the final round, Johnson secured a takedown and applied an arm bar that forced Moraga to tap out or suffer injury. Rory MacDonald proved his top-three welterweight ranking by defeating Jake Ellenberger by a clear unanimous decision in the co-main event. The night of fights also featured Robbie Lawler adding another highlight reel knockout to his career highlights with a knockout of Bobby Voelker and Liz Carmouche becoming the first female fighter to log two fights in the UFC with her technical knockout win over Germain de Randamie. UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga . The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. While the number of complimentary tickets issued was not revealed, the figures represent an average of $94.04 in revenue generated per ticket issued. Heading into his flyweight title fight against champion Demetrious Johnson , relatively unknown John Moraga had repeatedly said that he was going to be the “bully,” when he and “Mighty Mouse” met in the cage. In front of a packed house at the KeyArena in Seattle at UFC on Fox 8 , Moraga never stopped trying, he never stopped moving, but a bully he was not. Earning 11 of 11 takedowns and using an all-world technical ground game, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson dominated the West Phoenix native for the majority of the 25 minutes, earning his second consecutive title defense. Moraga opened round one looking to establish himself in the cage. Prior to his scrap with Mighty Mouse, Moraga had been regulated to the preliminary card in his previous UFC outings.
