Every UFC on Fuel TV 10 Fighter Returned Clean Drug Test Results

The Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced on Friday that all fighters tested on the UFC on Fuel TV 10 fight card that took place on June 8 at the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil, returned negative test results for illegal drugs, performance enhancing drugs, stimulants and masking agents. Every fighter on the card submitted pre-fight urine samples. Four randomly chosen fighters submitted post-fight urine samples, as well as main event fighters Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum . Werdum defeated Nogueira in the featured attraction by submission. Leonardo Santos became the second The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil winner by submitting William Macario in the co-main event. The card set the record for number of submission finishes on a single UFC event with eight. The previous record was six.

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was a no-show at Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 post-fight press conference, but the veteran heavyweight avoided any serious injuries. Nogueira (34-8-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who suffered a loss to Fabricio Werdum (17-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the event’s FUEL TV-televised headliner, submitted to a second-round armbar as he was trapped in an awkward position in the clash of Brazilian grappling standouts. Nogueira was coming off a win over Dave Herman , but a bout prior, Frank Mir snapped his arm with a kimura. It was an ugly scene that was difficult for “Minotauro’s” fans to watch. This time around, though, the former champ avoided any serious injuries. “Our champion @Minotauromma already did an X-ray, and thank God, did not fracture (his arm) and is already out of the hospital,” his coach, Luiz Dorea, tweeted in Portuguese earlier this morning. Potential shoulder and arm injuries were both ruled out. FORTALEZA, Brazil – In addition to winning “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2″ on Saturday with a win over fellow finalist William Macario at UFC on FUEL TV 10, Leonardo Santos earned a $25,000 bonus. Santos’ semifinal-round fight with Santiago Ponzinibbio was picked as the “Fight of the Season,” and both welterweights picked up $25,000 bonuses because of it. Santos, in fact, actually lost the fight via decision. But when Ponzinibbio wasn’t medically cleared to compete in the final because of a broken hand suffered in the bout, Santos got the fight instead. Then, in the UFC on FUEL TV 10 co-headliner at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, he submitted fellow finalist William Macario to win the “TUF: Brazil 2″ tournament. However, all wasn’t lost for Ponzinibbio. In addition to his “Fight of the Season” bonus, he picked up an additional $25,000 for the “Knockout of the Season” thanks to his elimination-round win over Marcio Santos . As great as it was for Fabricio Werdum to avenge a loss and topple his idol at UFC on Fuel TV 10 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, beating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira still didn’t rank as the highest accomplishment of his mixed martial arts career. That position is still reserved for Werdum’s victory over Fedor Emelianenko when the two fought under the Strikeforce banner. “It was definitely Fedor,” Werdum said at Saturday night’s press conference. He fought just one more time for Strikeforce following the win over Fedor . He lost a unanimous decision to Alistair Overeem in what proved to be lackluster efforts from both men. Werdum immediately rebounded when he moved to the UFC , reeling off victories over Roy Nelson and Mike Russow en route to his rematch with Nogueira. Now he is in the thick of UFC heavyweight title talk.

Despite Winning TUF Brazil 2 at Welterweight, Leonardo Santos Considers Drop to 155 Pounds

Leonardo Santos became the welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2 in Fortaleza, Brazil, on Saturday night, by defeating a much bigger and younger William “Patolino” Macario. He hasn’t yet determined if he’ll remain at 170 pounds or drop to lightweight. From the start of their fight, Patolino manhandled Santos, overpowering him throughout the first round. He grew visibly tired as the second round got underway. Santos picked up on that and used his experience to outwit the tiring fighter, tripping him to the mat and submitting him. The victory posed a quandary for Santos.
