A lightweight matchup and potential slugfest has been added to the UFC's return to England. UFC officials announced on Tuesday's new edition of "UFC Tonight" that Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) and Ross Pearson (15-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will meet at an Oct. 26 UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The contest serves as the co-main event of a card that sees Michael Bisping face Mark Munoz in the main event. The main card airs on FOX Sports 2 followig prelims that stream on Facebook. Guillard looks to build on the strength of a "Knockout of the Night" win over Mac Danzig at July's UFC on FOX 8 event. The much-needed result helped Guillard snap out of a 1-4 slump and once again showed the potential the 30-year-old slugger always packs in his back pocket

I'm sitting here at my desk on Monday morning with two tabs open on my Internet browser. One shows the fight card for the UFC on FOX 8 event, which was free on network TV here in the States. The other shows the card for UFC 163 this past Saturday night, which was available in standard definition for $45, and HD for $55. The reason I've been staring at these two tabs for the past 10 minutes is because I'm trying to figure out the difference in quality that accounts for the radical difference in price. I'm trying, and honestly, I'm not coming up with much. That's not just the hindsight talking, either. Say you don't know anything about how either of those events turned out. Say you're just looking at them on paper, trying to decide which fights are worth watching and which might even be worth paying for.

Ian McCall (11-4-1 MMA, 0-2-1 UFC) likes to take momentary steps away from the drain of strategizing, and in advance of his fight at UFC 163 against Iliarde Santos (27-1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), he's got some advice for flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson . It's direct: Be cooler. "He's a dork, man," McCall told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "He's a great athlete, don't get me wrong. He's just socially awkward. "But he's getting better, and I say this as advice, because it would help his career and make him more money and fans would like him more." UFC 163 takes place Saturday at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. McCall vs. Santos opens the FX-televised preliminary-card in advance of main card fights on pay-per-view. Johnson undoubtedly won over the crowd this past Saturday at UFC on FOX 8, where he earned the first stoppage of his title reign by tapping out John Moraga in the fifth round of their title fight. UFC President Dana White awarded the champ a "Submission of the Night" bonus and said true fight fans will get behind what he does in the octagon. The event, however, reportedly drew the lowest overall ratings of the UFC's live events on FOX, despite winning key young male demographics. There are observers who say that no matter who is at the top of the lighter-weight divisions, big ratings and pay-per-views go to bigger men. While that or may not be the case, McCall said it couldn't hurt to have someone with that "it" factor holding the belt. That, he said, is him, or Joseph Benavidez , who Johnson beat to win the flyweight title. McCall said he and Benavidez have a likability that might help people to care about the little-man class and thus get it more attention on the pay-per-view stage. Dodson and Johnson, he said, are the kind of fighters people love to hate. "I'm not sure why people don't like [Johnson]," McCall said.

It’s direct: Be cooler. “He’s a dork, man,” McCall told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “He’s a great athlete, don’t get me wrong. He’s just socially awkward. “But he’s getting better, and I say this as advice, because it would help his career and make him more money and fans would like him more.” UFC 163 takes place Saturday at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. UFC President Dana White awarded the champ a “Submission of the Night” bonus and said true fight fans will get behind what he does in the octagon. The event, however, reportedly drew the lowest overall ratings of the UFC’s live events on FOX, despite winning key young male demographics. There are observers who say that no matter who is at the top of the lighter-weight divisions, big ratings and pay-per-views go to bigger men. While that or may not be the case, McCall said it couldn’t hurt to have someone with that “it” factor holding the belt. “I’m not sure why people don’t like [Johnson],” McCall said.

Just a couple days removed from his last fight, Jorge Masvidal already has his next bout lined up. Masvidal will meet Rustam Khabilov, likely on Nov. 6 on Fox Sports 1, according to a UFC Tonight report on Tuesday. It would be the promotion’s third such event, which is typically used as a fundraiser for charities that benefit members of the military and their families. Masvidal (25-7) is fresh off of his second-round victory over Michael Chiesa at Saturday’s UFC on Fox 8 event in Seattle.

That didn't take long. Jorge Masvidal moved to 2-0 in the UFC on Saturday, and he's already got his next assignment. Masvidal (25-7 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has been booked for a lightweight fight against Rustam Khabilov (16-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC). FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight" correspondent Ariel Helwani reported the news as part of Tuesday night's episode. The fight reportedly will take place in November on a yet-to-be-announced FOX Sports 1 card. Masvidal this past Saturday submitted Michael Chiesa in the second round at UFC on FOX 8, which took place at KeyArena in Seattle. Despite a rough first round in which Masvidal was dropped by a Chiesa left hand, he went on to hand Chiesa his first career loss with a guillotine D'Arce choke. Masvidal, a former lightweight title challenger in Strikeforce, now has won three straight since his loss to Gilbert Melendez for that belt in December 2011.

Going into his lightweight bout with Justin Salas at the UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena Seattle, Aaron Riley knew that no matter what happened, this was going to be his last one. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Truth be told, he didn't figure all that many people would care. After he announced his retirement on Twitter following the split-decision loss, he was surprised at how many people seemed to think it was newsworthy. "With all the influx of fans, these days when you lose a fight you've got people on Twitter telling you that you suck, saying, 'I'm happy you got your ass kicked,' and they're pretty brutal sometimes," Riley told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
