Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event officially drew an attendance of 8,967 and a live gate of $700,081. The Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw the event, today released the figures to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) and John Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. The total number of paid tickets for the event was 6,619

Recent flyweight title challenger John Moraga is among a list of fighters who could be out as long as long as six months following their fights at this past Saturday’s UFC on FOX 8 event. The Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw Saturday’s event, today released the event’s medical suspensions to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC on FOX 8 took place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle. The night’s main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was submitted in the fifth round by champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC), who defended his title for the second time. Moraga received a suspension of 180 days unless he is cleared by a doctor prior to that. Regardless, he will be shelved for 30 days. All 24 fighters on the card received at minimum Washington’s standard seven-day suspension, including Johnson and co-main event fighters Rory MacDonald (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (29-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC)

Main-card fighter Robbie Lawler ($156,000) and preliminary-card competitors Melvin Guillard ($84,000) and Ed Herman ($74,000) earned the biggest disclosed paydays from this past weekend’s UFC on FOX 8 event. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today obtained the salary/fight-purse information from the Washington State Department of Licensing. UFC on FOX 8 took place July 27 at Seattle’s KeyArena, and the main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson , who submitted John Moraga in the night’s main event, tied for the fifth largest disclosed payday on the card. He earned $58,000, which included a $29,000 win bonus. The total disclosed payroll for the event was $850,000. SEATTLE – Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event drew an announced attendance of 7,816 and a live gate of $735,000. UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga . The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. While the number of complimentary tickets issued was not revealed, the figures represent an average of $94.04 in revenue generated per ticket issued. SEATTLE – Demetrious Johnson , Melvin Guillard , Ed Herman and Trevor Smith each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 8 event. Johnson won “Submission of the Night,” Guillard earned the “Knockout of the Night” and Herman and Smith picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. SEATTLE – It was the fight that got the most hype on Saturday’s card, but “Fight of the Night” it was not. Still, Rory MacDonald jabbed his way past a careful Jake Ellenberger and may have punched his ticket to a welterweight title fight. The welterweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena in Seattle. It aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. MacDonald kicked and jabbed early while Ellenberger sat back a while and seemed to look for his opening. Ellenberger had a couple moments in the first half of the round where he tried to get inside, but he wasn’t able to land anything of significance.

SEATTLE – The longer Robbie Lawler stayed in the cage with Bobby Voelker, the more comfortable he seemed to get with the idea of visiting some memorable act of violence upon him. So when Lawler sat Voelker down with a head kick early in the second round, it was hardly a surprise. The same could be said about the follow-up right hand that starched Voelker as he went to sit up, thereby ending the fight at 0:24 of the second round. The welterweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena in Seattle. It aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

SEATTLE – Ground-and-pound was the name of the game for Liz Carmouche on the way to her first UFC victory. The recent women’s bantamweight title challenger pounced out newcomer Jessica Andrade with a vicious barrage of elbows and fists on the ground for a second-round TKO win. The women’s bantamweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena in Seattle. It aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Carmouche opened with an early kick, but Andrade fired right back and the two tied up along the fence.
