Bellator keeps up its busy end-of-year schedule by going head-to-head with the UFC today for Bellator 165, and the promotion just might have a chance to pull in some decent ratings with these fights, especially the one at the top of the card. In the main event, Michael Chandler , in his second stint as Bellator lightweight champion, puts the title he won in June on the line against former UFC lightweight titleholder Benson Henderson . In the co-main event, Michael Page , one of the most electrifying fighters on the Bellator roster, faces Fernando Gonzalez in a fight that was booked and scratched on two previous occasions

Klinger in for injured Vassell, Grove vs. Mulheron added to Bellator 158

Linton Vassell has been knocked out of his bout with Francis Carmont at Bellator 158. Vassell (16-5 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) was scheduled to compete in front of his fellow countrymen at the event, but will instead be replaced by Lukasz Klinger (7-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA). Bellator 158 takes place July 16 at The O2 in London. The main card airs on Spike at 9 p.m. ET via tape delay.

Filed under: News Since there was obviously way too much happening at Bellator 142 for us to focus on any one thing without missing several others, here are seven largely disconnected thoughts on Saturday night’s “Dynamite” event at San Jose’s SAP Center. 1. Oh, right. That’s why we stopped doing the one-night tournament thing. I won’t act like I don’t understand the appeal. As I was watching Muhammad Lawal and Linton Vassell go at it in their weird two-round bout to kick things off, I remembered why this concept is so intriguing.

In a Spike-televised headliner at San Jose’s SAP Center, McGeary (11-0 MMA, 8-0 BMMA) overcame Ortiz’s (18-12-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) early success and stopped him with an inverted triangle choke. Carmont vs. Lins set for ‘Bellator 142: Dynamite’ tournament alternate bout

Francis Carmont Bellator will protect its interests for its first one-night tournament event on Sept. 19 when Francis Carmont and Philipe Lins compete in a light heavyweight alternate bout. The winner of Carmont (23-10 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and Lins (9-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) will be the first candidate to step into the tournament should one of the four scheduled members – Muhammed Lawal, Phil Davis, Emmanuel Newton and Linton Vassell – be deemed unable or unfit to move forward. Bellator President Scott Coker revealed the matchup to MMAjunkie. “Bellator 142: Dynamite” takes place at San Jose’s SAP Center and will feature a mix of MMA and kickboxing matches
