The UFC’s debut in San Antonio later this month has seen a pair of changes. Myles Jury (14-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is out of his lightweight fight against Abel Trujillo (12-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC), and Frank Trevino (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will move up the card to take Jury’s place. FOX Sports first reported the change. That change left Joe Ellenberger (14-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), Trevino’s original opponent, without a foe. But UFC newcomer Johnny Case (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) said on Twitter that he has signed with the promotion and will be taking on Ellenberger on the card. UFC Fight Night 44 takes place June 28 at AT&T Center in San Antonio.

Having been rebooked, then pulled from this past weekend’s UFC 172 just three days before the event, Joe Ellenberger has a new assignment for his UFC debut. Ellenberger (14-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet Frank Trevino (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 44 in June. UFC officials announced the new lightweight booking overnight. UFC Fight Night 44 takes place June 28 at San Antonio’s AT&T Center. Broadcast plans haven’t been announced, but the card is likely to be seen on a combination of FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Ellenberger, the twin brother of UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger, now will be fighting for the first time in more than 18 months when he makes his UFC debut

After having the Brazilian stuck to his back early on, Trevino battled back in Rounds 2 and 3 to win a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC 171 event at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Trevino (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a Mexican-born fighter now living in Texas, will drop from welterweight and meet fellow lightweight Renee Forte (8-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at UFC 171. Frank Trevino signs with UFC, hopes to debut at first event in Mexico

Undefeated MMA vet Frank Trevino has gotten his wish to compete inside the octagon. Trevino’s manager, Wade Hampel of Big Fight Management, today announced the fighter has inked a four-fight contract with the UFC and hopes to make his debut in the promotion’s first trip to Mexico, where he was born and raised. Trevino (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who now resides in South Texas, will drop from the welterweight division to lightweight, though a date and opponent have yet to be confirmed, Hampel told MMAjunkie.
