TUF 18 marks the move of the reality show from FX to the new Fox Sports 1 network, and thus far the move has been rocky, at best.

UFC Fight Night 26′s Yuri Alcantara wanted to train with Urijah Faber

BOSTON – Had things worked out differently, Yuri Alcantara might be feeling a little more awkward about his upcoming fight with Urijah Faber . Alcantara (28-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) flirted with the idea of training at the Team Alpha Male gym where Faber (28-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) hangs his hat. The two might have made for some spirited sparring, but the Brazilian Alcantara, who most recently beat Iliarde Santos at UFC on FX 8, didn’t wind up making the trek for Sacramento, Calif., where Faber’s gym resides. Good thing, because not long afterward, they were booked to fight each other at UFC Fight Night 26, which takes place Saturday at TD Garden in Boston.

UFC 163 medical suspensions: Headliners Aldo, Jung get lengthy terms

As pictures indicated, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo suffered a serious foot injury that could keep him out of action for three months. The UFC 163 medical suspensions, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and today received, indicate Aldo has been given a 90-day term, including 60 days with no contact for a fracture of his right foot. Chan Sung Jung , who challenged Aldo at this past Saturday’s pay-per-view event, could be out even longer. He was suspended 180 days or until cleared by a doctor for a shoulder dislocation that helped bring a halt to the title fight in the fourth round when Aldo took advantage after seeing the injury and earned a TKO stoppage. UFC 163 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Its main card aired live on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook

RIO DE JANEIRO – Anthony Perosh , Sergio Moraes , Ian McCall and Iliarde Santos each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 163 event. Perosh won “Knockout of the Night,” Moraes earned the “Submission of the Night” and McCall and Santos picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. UFC officials announced the winners following Saturday’s card. UFC 163 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. Leites, a former middleweight title challenger, took down Tom Watson 30 seconds into the fight, then dominated the bout on the ground en route to a unanimous decision sweep of the judges’ scorecards. UFC 163 results and photos: Amanda Nunes elbows way to TKO of Sheila Gaff

RIO DE JANEIRO – Amanda Nunes apparently had little interest in finding out what it would feel like to see Round 2 in her UFC debut. Against Sheila Gaff, the Brazilian bantamweight started fast and ended fast, earning a TKO stoppage via elbow strikes at 2:08 of the first round. The women’s bantamweight bout took place today at UFC 163 at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. It aired on FX ahead of the pay-per-view main card. Nunes and Gaff signaled right away that theirs was not the kind of business that would likely take long to resolve. The two women met in the center of the cage and traded heavy leather in the opening seconds, though it was Gaff who initially tried to get the action to the mat. Nunes shrugged off an early attempt at a rear-naked choke, then muscled Gaff back to the floor moments later before unloading with a barrage of elbow strikes from inside the German’s guard that forced referee Herb Dean to call a stop to the bout.
