Gabi Garcia is back. The multiple-time jiu-jitsu world champion has booked her return to MMA. Garcia (6-0) is scheduled to compete in a rematch against Barbara Nepomuceno at Centurion FC 19 on April 25 in São Paulo, Brazil. The news was first reported by MMA Fighting on Tuesday. Both the promotion and Garcia subsequently confirmed the matchup on social media. Although no weight class was announced, the two previously competed at heavyweight.

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – Julia Budd is dialed in on Friday’s Bellator 224 title defense against Olga Rubin, but the featherweight champion sees some big fights on the horizon after signing a new four-fight deal with the promotion. The “big” can be emphasized for one fight in particular. Budd (12-2 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) said her champion status paired with Bellator’s strong relationship with the Japan-based Rizin FF organization could open the door for a showdown with undefeated heavyweight Gabi Garcia (6-0). Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Gabi Garcia scored a win over a smaller-sized opponent. Garcia moved to 5-0 today when the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist choked out Veronika Futina (0-1) in an open-weight bout at ROAD FC 47. The event took place at Cadillac Arena in Beijing, where Garcia entered the cage with a massive size advantage. At Friday’s official weigh-ins, Garcia weighed 106.7 kilograms (235 pounds); Futina, who had a contentious build-up with Garcia ahead of the fight, was 86.6 kilograms (191 pounds). The physical advantages were obvious today once they entered the ring.

Garcia (4-0) was forced to step in the ring inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, where she apologized for coming in 28 pounds overweight for her bout against Kandori (4-1), which was scheduled for 209 pounds.

Gabi Garcia will not be competing at tonight’s Rizin FF 8 event, which is currently going down at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Garcia (4-0) was supposed to fight Shinobu Kandori (4-1) on the card, but came in a whopping 28 pounds over the contract weight. Promoters were furious with the situation, and as a result the bout will no longer take place.
