Lewis-Guelmino off UFC on FOX Sports 1 2, Bowling-Trujillo meet on card

An injury has knocked a heavyweight bout off the UFC’s return to Indianapolis, and a pair of lightweights will fill the gap on the card. Derrick Lewis (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been forced out of his scheduled fight against Nandor Guelmino (11-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC on FOX Sports 1 2. Both fighters would have been making their UFC debuts. Instead, Guelmino will be shifted to UFC 165 in Toronto and lightweights Roger Bowling (11-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Abel Trujillo (10-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will meet in Indy. UFC officials announced the change and new booking on Monday night. Though the UFC did not announce a new opponent for Guelmino, Swedish site MMA Nytt reports the recently signed Daniel Omielanczuk (15-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet Guelmino on the card.

Before “King” Mo Lawal and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson landed their historic deals that saw them sign with both Bellator to compete in MMA as well as TNA Wrestling to begin their pro wrestling careers, Bobby Lashley was an old hand at the trade. A former collegiate standout in wrestling, Lashley was a quick pickup several years ago for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where he cut his teeth in the industry and became one of the company’s biggest stars during his years with the organization. Following an injury that saw him exit the WWE in 2008, Lashley began pursuing his new career in mixed martial arts, where he competed in several promotions including a few fights in Strikeforce. During that time, Lashley found his way back into pro wrestling as well, working local shows as well as becoming a mainstay at TNA wrestling. Lashley has known since day one that he decided to dedicate his life to both MMA and pro wrestling that it was going to be hard on his body and mind, but his passion never faded and he continues to walk both roads today. It’s not an easy path to travel, however, and Lashley is quick to offer advice to both Lawal and Jackson that being the best in MMA and pro wrestling won’t come easy.

WSOF 3′s Steve Carl: Acting tough means you’re probably terrified

Steve Carl (19-3) sees a big gap between himself and his upcoming opponent, Tyson Steele (10-1), if his experience in the sport is any indication. “When I had his record, my mental ability wasn’t 10 percent of what it is now,” Carl told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “If his mental (ability) is more built up, hey, more power to him. But I know when I was in his situation, I wasn’t ready to fight somebody like me.” The World Series of Fighting welterweights meet in the co-main event of WSOF 3, which takes place tonight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The event’s main card airs live on NBC Sports Network (11 p.m. ET) following prelims on MMAjunkie.com (8:30 p.m. ET)
