Pacio went back and forth with former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Silva in a hard-fought, five-round main event at “ONE Championship 107: Fire & Fury” at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The second big event of ONE Championship’s 2020 calendar, “Fire & Fury” sees the Asian promotion return to Manila’s Mall of Asia Arena with a card featuring eight MMA bouts, with six of the eight matchups featuring Filipino athletes. Headlining the card is a battle for the ONE strawweight title, as local hero and reigning champion Joshua Pacio (18-3) puts his title on the line against Brazil’s former champion Alex Silva (9-4), while Filipino fan-favorite and former two-time lightweight champion Eduard Folayang (22-8) will look to move one step closer to a shot at his old title when he faces Dutch contender Pieter Buist (16-4) in the night’s co-main event. Two former victims of Demetrious Johnson are set for action in separate matchups as Danny Kingad (13-2) and Tatsumitsu Wada (22-11-2) take on Xie Wei (5-2) and Ivanildo Delfino (8-0), respectively.

ONE Championship 107: Team Lakay’s Filipino quartet set to fly the flag on home soil

The ONE Championship cage returns to the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on Friday, with Filipino champion Joshua Pacio (18-3) set for top billing. The two-time ONE strawweight champion will take on a former champ, Brazil’s Alex Silva (9-4), in the main event of a fight card that is packed with some of the biggest martial arts stars from the region. The co-main event features Pacio’s teammate and former two-time lightweight champion Eduard Folayang (22-8), who takes on dangerous late replacement Pieter Buist (16-4) from the Netherlands, while further main card support comes from another Filipino star, flyweight Danny Kingad (13-2), who takes on China’s Xie Wei (5-2). The trio, along with women’s atomweight contender Gina Iniong (8-4), are set for action on home soil as they look to produce another big night for their gym, Team Lakay. The team, based in Baguio City and run by head coach Mark Sangiao, identifies talented wushu prospects from the city’s University of the Cordilleras and builds their skillsets in preparation for a career in the cage.

Video: Many disciplines, many hard-hitting highlights at ONE Championship 76 in China

ONE Championship was back in China this past weekend for a night of fights in multiple disciplines. “ONE Championship 76: Battle for the Heavens” featured muay Thai fights, kickboxing and MMA inside a ring. The event took place at Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China. In the MMA headliner, flyweight Reece McLaren (12-5) picked up a split-decision against Tatsumitsu Wada (19-9) and improved to 3-0 in the promotion since dropping down to 125 pounds from bantamweight. But one of the biggest performances on the MMA side of things came from Fu Changxin (8-1), who pounded out Rustem Ensebaev for a first-round TKO. The highlights for that fight can be seen in the video above and photo gallery just below.

ONE Championship will return to the Philippines in April, and the promotion will unveil a new series and a bit of a new look. “ONE Championship 71: Heroes of Honor” will take place April 20 at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, the promotion today announced. The card will stream as an online pay-per-view in North America. In the MMA main event, Kevin Belingon (17-5) will fight for his home-country fans in a bantamweight bout against Indonesia-based New York native Andrew Leone (8-3).

The result, however, was a crushing knockout defeat that caused him to lose his ONE Championship lightweight title. ONE Championship featherweight titleholder Nguyen (9-2) moved up to 155 pounds for the champion-vs.-champion affair, which headlined today’s ONE Championship 64 event. That decision paid off, and he added a second belt to his collection with a second-round knockout of Folayang (18-6) in the online pay-per-view bout at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Folayang entered the contest as the betting favorite, and in the early going, the odds seemed justified. His size and range gave Nguyen some troubles, but he figured out the solution to the puzzle going into the second round.

ONE Championship 54 results: Eduard Folayang defends title in grueling main event with Ev Ting

After upsetting Shinya Aoki to claim the ONE Championship lightweight belt in November, Eduard Folayang successfully defended his title for the first time with a grueling unanimous decision victory over Ev Ting at “ONE Championship 54: Kings of Destiny.” The headlining bout, which took place at at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, and streamed via online pay-per-view, Folayang (18-5) outworked and outpointed Ting (13-4) in a competitive five-round fight, which all three judges scored in his favor. All 25 minutes of the contest looked quite similar to each other. Almost all of the action was played out on the feet, with each side getting in his fair share of shots – but missing on a lot of attempts, as well. Champion Folayang was slightly superior at all times, though, landing some hard shots which created swelling on Ting’s face. There were few lulls throughout the course of the fight, and by the end both competitors were exhausted
