It has been less than a week since Carlos Ulberg shocked the world to become the UFC light heavyweight champion, but the belt is no longer in his possession. ‘Black Jag’ beat Jiri Prochazka in the curtain closer at UFC 327 by knockout despite being incredibly compromised. Early reports state that the 35-year-old suffered an ACL tear from a misstep during his fight on Saturday, which could keep him out for the better part of a year

Well technically, Jones is seeking the person holding onto the belt he relinquished after briefly announcing his retirement only to decide he wanted to compete again following President Donald Trump announcing plans to bring a UFC event to the White House as part of his plans for the America 250 celebration next July.

When he officially retires, Poirier leaves the sport with a remarkable amount of accolades, including 10 Fight of the Night bonuses, with wins over four former UFC champions and he’s tied with Drew Dober for the most knockouts in UFC lightweight history. He was also an interim lightweight champion but Poirier was never able to capture the undisputed belt, coming up short in both of his attempts against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev

In a recent conference call with the media, Johnson was asked if the pending delivery of his first child added any pressure or inspiration leading up to his fight with Moraga. “No, no added pressure or no inspiration,” said Johnson. “Obviously, I’m happy to be a father, but everything is the same. Dave Jansen Injured, Bellator Champ Michael Chandler Gets New Opponent, New Date

Bellator No. 1 lightweight contender and Season 7 tournament winner Dave Jansen has withdrawn from his Bellator 96 challenge of champion Michael Chandler due to an ACL injury. Chandler will still defend his belt, but that won’t happen until Bellator 97 on July 31, and he’ll do so against Season 8 tournament winner David Rickels , who now leap-frogs Jansen. Bellator officials announced the change Sunday morning. “I’m already back in the gym getting ready for the biggest test of my career,” Rickels said. “I was prepared for another few months off with Jansen already in line for his title shot, but when I got the news I was pumped because I got to enjoy myself for a while after the tournament, but now I’m ready to fight for that belt.” Rickels defeated Saad Awad at Bellator 94 at the end of March. Now, he’ll make the quick turn for a shot at Bellator gold. “Chandler is going to bring a huge challenge, but I know I need to focus on my takedown defense, and just push the pace,” he added.
