Drysdale is one of the most decorated grapplers in the world. He is a World Jiu-Jitsu Championship gold medalist, as well as a winner of the Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling World Championship absolute division. He has quietly amassed a 6-0 record in professional mixed martial arts competition, since beginning his transition to the sport in 2010. Holding true to his background in grappling – and similar to UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey – Drysdale has submitted all six of his opponents and all in the first round. In fact, he has never gone longer than 2:54 in an MMA bout. Drysdale will, however, have to wait to make his UFC debut due to the staph infection. There has been no word from UFC officials yet on whether or not they have found a replacement to step in and face Oliveira or if they will scrap the bout altogether

The Japanese veteran will compete with the BJJ world champion over the course of a single 20-minute round in Los Angeles. Aoki’s decision to accept an invitation to join this competition was something of a surprise, but the ONE FC and Dream 155-pound champion says he felt that the challenge of testing himself against one of the world’s best grapplers was one that appealed to him. “I accepted this fight with Kron Gracie because I want to gain invaluable experience and also because I am a warrior,” he told MMAWeekly.com. “I don’t know if I can beat him, but I will do my best. I’d like to compete more regularly in grappling tournaments.” Gracie’s grappling credentials are impeccable. He’s a two-time world champion who outranks Aoki in BJJ terms
