Ilir Latifi GLASGOW, Scotland – Ilir Latifi reminded fans why he is “The Sledgehammer” with a thunderous first-round TKO of Hans Stringer at UFC Fight Night 72. The light heavyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 72 event at SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Latifi (10-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) threw some heavy leg kicks to start the fight.

Ilir Latifi meets Hans Stringer at UFC Fight Night 72 in Scotland in July

Ilir Latifi The UFC’s debut in Scotland in July has another fight added to the docket. Ilir Latifi (9-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC), from Sweden, is set to take on Hans Stringer (22-6-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a light heavyweight bout. UFC officials announced the new booking today. UFC Fight Night 72 takes place July 18 at SSE Hydro in Glasgow. FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass are expected to carry the card. After making a super-short notice debut against Gegard Mousasi a little more than two years ago and dropping a unanimous decision in Stockholm, Latifi picked up back-to-back first-round victories with a submission of Cyrille Diabate in London and a knockout of Chris Dempsey in Dublin this past July.

A light heavyweight contest between Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldonado (21-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and Dutch prospect Hans Stringer (22-5-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is the latest addition to UFC 179. UFC officials today announced the new pairing. An official bout order for UFC 179 has yet to be revealed, but the card features UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo in a rematch with top challenger Chad Mendes. The event takes place Oct. 25 at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium.
