Next month’s Cage Warriors 58 card has four new additions, including the organization’s first heavyweight fight of 2013. Officials today announced the quartet of fights, which take place Aug. 24 at Olympisk Arena in Grozny, Chechnya. The main card streams on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following prelims on Facebook. The heavyweight contest pits Michal Andryszak (9-3), a 21-year-old Polish prospect who has nine stoppages (eight in the first round) in nine career wins, vs. Ion Cutelaba (4-0), an undefeated Moldovan who’s finished three of four opponents in less than a minute each.

UFC vet James McSweeney replaces Marcus Sursa vs. Paul Buentello at Legacy FC 22

There has been a change atop Legacy Fighting Championship’s next card. Marcus Sursa (12-8) has been forced out of his main event light heavyweight fight against Paul Buentello (32-15) at Legacy FC 22. Stepping in for him will be James McSweeney (11-10). Promotion officials recently confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) for the Aug. 23 card, which takes place in Lubbock, Texas, likely at Fairgrounds Park Coliseum

WINNIPEG – The other side of the coin for Rashad Evans on Saturday night was not going to be a good thing. And he was just one judge and one round away from it. Evans (18-3-1 MMA, 13-3-1 UFC) took a split decision against Dan Henderson (29-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) in the main event of UFC 161, which took place at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. In a close back-and-forth light heavyweight fight, just a few moves different here or there could’ve been the difference between Evans snapping a two-fight skid – or Evans going down for the third straight time. It was the second straight close split-decision loss for Henderson after a February setback against Lyoto Machida at UFC 157, and with two straight losses, the chances of Henderson competing for a UFC title ever again dropped to slim – as would former champ Evans’ had he been on the other end of the split call. Official fighter weigh-ins for “UFC 161: Evans vs. Henderson” are slated for June 14 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The same venue then hosts the following night’s pay-per-view event, which features a light heavyweight fight between former UFC champion Rashad Evans (17-3-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC) and former PRIDE champ Dan Henderson (29-9 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in the main event. The first fighter steps on the scale at 4 p.m. CT local time, and doors open to the public at 3 p.m. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
