UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones now sits atop the pound-for-pound rankings. He’s the youngest fighter to ever win a UFC title. He is currently riding the longest winning streak in UFC light heavyweight history with nine consecutive wins. He’s tall, athletic, intelligent and driven. Jones faces Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 on September 21 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Jones is a lot of things, but in the eyes of the challenger, he’s the biggest fight of Gustafsson’s six-year career. “I see the greatest test in my career,” said Gustafsson on Tuesday at a press conference promoting the upcoming event. “He’s the champion for a reason. I’m so ready for this fight. I’m very motivated.” The 26-year old Swede is on a six-fight winning streak. The only blemish on his 15-1 record came in April 2010 when he lost to Phil Davis by submission. He is coming off a win over former titleholder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in December and hopes to add a victory over the current champion to his resume. “I’m so pumped for this fight,” he said. “He’s a complete fighter. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones returns to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 21 to defend his title against Swedish contender Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson at UFC 165. At just 25 years old, Jones is one the most dominant fighters in UFC light heavyweight history. His 12 wins are second most in the division’s history, while his five consecutive title defenses tie him with UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz ’s light heavyweight record. Gustafsson, 26, enters the bout with a near spotless record, having won six straight, while holding a 15-1 all-time record (7-1 in the UFC). Injury forced him off an April card in his native Sweden, however, his previous bout saw him earn a unanimous decision over former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in December 2012. “Jon Jones is re-writing the record book for the light heavyweight division,” UFC President Dana White said.

For the better part of the last decade, no two names in MMA have come to define heavyweight ground wizardry more than Brazilian’s Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira . The two first met in the Pride 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix Quarterfinals in Saitama, Japan. That night, “Big Nog” earned a unanimous decision victory over the still-green Werdum. On Saturday night in Fortaleza, Brazil, the capacity crowd at Ginásio Paulo Sarasate were witness to one of the most anticipated rematches in heavyweight history, as Nogueira vs. Werdum 2 headlined the night’s UFC on Fuel TV 10 fight card. Round one opened with “Vai Cavalo” throwing pace-setting leg kicks to Nogueira’s lead leg. Almost immediately, Werdum looked to clinch with the pressuring Nogueira. Securing a takedown seconds into the opening frame, the two were immediately off to a ground battle. As Werdum had full mount, Nogueira scrambled, eventually regaining half guard.
