Magomed Magomedov has a new opponent for Bellator 255. The former ACB champion and current Bellator bantamweight will take on promotional newcomer Cee Jay Hamilton on the April 2 preliminary card, which takes place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Also added to the card is Mukhamad Berkhamov (14-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) vs. Herman Terrado (15-5 MMA, 0-1-1 BMMA) at welterweight and Fabio Aguiar (17-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) vs. Khalid Murtazaliev (14-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at middleweight

Cooper faced two-time WSOF title challenger Jake Shields and blasted through Shields that night in Washington D.C. He stopped Shields in the second round via strikes. Thursday, Cooper headlines PFL 6, and the odds are good that fans will be tuning in to see what he can do in his second regular-season bout.

The announcement that WSOF was no more came in mid-April. The assets of the promotion were reportedly acquired by Russ Ramsey along with venture capitalists Donn Davis and Mark Leschly. The new ownership group quickly rebranded their purchase as the Professional Fighters League. A lot more than a simple name change took place when the promotion changed hands; there was also a change in philosophy. Instead of a roster of fighters competing for gold belts, the PFL will feature fighters in seven weight divisions competing in a season-style format.

While the newly minted Professional Fighters League will wait until 2018 to launch its debut season, the promotion will hold its first event later this month. MMAjunkie today confirmed with PFL officials that the company will hold a four-fight card on June 30 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., headlined by former WSOF welterweight champion Jon Fitch (29-7-1) vs. ex-WOSF lightweight tournament finalist Brian Foster (27-9).

Bellator 115 medical suspensions: Champ Vitaly Minakov could be out six months

Bellator MMA heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov could be on the shelf for a while after his most recent title defense. Minakov defended his belt with a unanimous decision win over Cheick Kongo this past Friday at Bellator 115. But the fighter could be out as long as six months without clearance from a doctor. Minakov was given a 180-day medical suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following his main-event victory. But that lengthy term would be shortened to 45 days if a doctor clears his left shoulder. The champ was one of eight fighters on the card – half the bill – to receive medical suspensions from the NSAC
