John Dodson sure made a good first impression with the Japanese fan base. Two-time UFC title challenger Dodson scored a vicious knockout in his Rizin FF debut at Saturday’s Rizin FF vs. Bellator event in Japan. Dodson (23-13) put the lights out on veteran Hideo Tokoro (35-32-1) in their flyweight bout on the preliminary card of the event.

John Dodson books fight at Rizin 40 on New Year’s Eve

Former UFC standout John Dodson will join the stacked Rizin 40 card on New Year’s Eve. Dodson (22-13) will take on Hideo Tokoro (35–31–2) in a flyweight bout on Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena just outside Tokyo, promotion officials announced Wednesday. The main card will air in the U.S.

Rizin Fighting Federation 1, Day 1 Shinya Aoki unsurprisingly made quick work of Kazushi Sakuraba when he picked up a first-round TKO victory in the main event of Rizin Fighting Federation 1: Day 1. After 10 finishes in 11 fights leading up to the special attraction headliner between the two Japanese MMA standouts from differing generations, Aoki (39-6) capped the show in dominant fashion when he outclassed Sakuraba (26-17-1) on the mat for the dominant win at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was one-way traffic for Aoki from the opening bell. He scored a takedown early in the fight and put Sakuraba in a desperate and defensive shell. He pounded the 46-year-old with punches from mount and back control for several minutes.

Mike Richman injured, out of Bellator 135 bout with Eduardo Dantas

Mike Richman Bellator 135’s co-main event has been scrapped following an injury to Mike Richman . Richman (18-5 MMA, 7-4 BMMA) was set to face former Bellator MMA bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas (16-4 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) at the March 27 event. Bellator announced the injury via press release Tuesday, confirming a tweet Richman sent out Monday. @GoldenCalebT @premierboxing @SpikeTV I suffered an injury in training, my fight got pushed back to May 15th — MIKE RICHMAN (@MikeUSMCRichman) March 8, 2015 Bellator did not confirm the May 15 rescheduled bout date.
