Ryan Bader: I’m Ready to Go Out There and Upset Glover and the UFC’s Plans for Him

Light heavyweights Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader were originally expected to meet at UFC 160 on May 25, but a knee injury forced Bader out of the fight. Teixeira defeated Bader’s replacement, James Te Huna, by submission that night, but now that Bader is healthy, the two will finally face off at UFC Fight Night 28 on Wednesday. While Teixeira had to change his focus to Te Huna, Bader’s focus remained on Teixeira, and he believes that is an advantage. “We were thinking about him long before and he had to switch it up and think about Te Huna, so we’ve been having a long training camp for him. At least thinking about him for when I healed up and started training again and getting back at it, it was for Glover,” Bader told MMAWeekly content partner Knockout Radio

The UFC’s third event on FOX Sports 1 will reportedly take place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and a pair of high-profile contests are apparently targeted for the evening’s main card. The UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 main event will reportedly see light heavyweights Glover Teixeira (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Ryan Bader (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) face off, while middleweight action sees Yushin Okami (29-7 MMA) face Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (18-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC). The targeted location and bookings were first reported by Brazilian outlet Portal do Vale Tudo . MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed the likely plans with multiple sources close to the event, though UFC officials have yet to make any formal announcements. Teixeira and Bader were actually expected to fight this past May at UFC 160. However, Bader suffered an injury in training and was replaced by James Te Huna , who was submitted by Teixeira in the first round of the contest. They asked me if I’d be ready. After ‘acting like an amateur,’ Ryan Jimmo ready to redeem himself at UFC 161

On one hand, Canadian light-heavyweight Ryan Jimmo believes he made a mistake in fighting James Te Huna at UFC on FUEL TV 7. On the other, he believes it would have been a mistake not to fight. Jimmo (17-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who on Saturday meets Igor Pokrajac (25-9 MMA, 4-4 UFC) at UFC 161, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that he “literally didn’t have a leg to stand on” when he fought the Australiian this past February following a career-highlight knockout of Anthony Perosh that catapulted him to stardom. After three rounds with Te Huna, Jimmo lost a unanimous decision and was forced back to the drawing board. “I acted like an amateur by choosing to go ahead,” he said. “I’ve done it before and come out on top. Not that night. Te Huna’s got a hard head.
