Invicta FC 6 Fight Card Loses Julia Budd and Sarah Schneider to Injury Bug

Invicta FC 6 has been bitten again by the injury bug. Featherweight Julia Budd and strawweight Sarah Schneider have been forced off of the July 13 fight card due to injuries. Invicta officials moved swiftly, however, and already have replacements in place for both fighters. Charmaine Tweet has stepped up to in place of Budd against Ediane Gomes, and Norma Center has agreed to take Schneider’s spot opposite Joanne Calderwood. Invicta FC 6 is slated for July 13 at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City. It features a rematch between Cris Cyborg Justino and Marloes Coenen in the main event. The two will battle for the inaugural Invicta featherweight championship

Bahadurzada replaces injured Saffiedine, meets Lawler at UFC on FOX 8

Former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the latest victim of the injury bug, and fellow welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada (21-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has stepped as an injury replacement and now fights Robbie Lawler (10-9 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at UFC on FOX 8. UFC officials today announced the switch. UFC on FOX 8 takes place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Bahadurzada vs. Lawler is expected to maintain its main-card slot. Bahadurzada looks to rebound from a UFC on FUEL TV 8 decision loss to Dong Hyun Kim earlier this year

Dave Jansen off Bellator 96, David Rickels meets Michael Chandler at Bellator 97

The injury bug has bitten Bellator’s lightweight division, and champion Michael Chandler ‘s next title defense will be delayed – and will come against a new opponent. Lightweight tournament winner Dave Jansen (19-2 MMA, 6-0 BFC) has suffered an injury, forcing him out of his title shot against Chandler (11-0 MMA, 8-0 BFC) later this month at Bellator 96. Instead, Chandler now will fight fellow tourney winner David Rickels (14-1 MMA, 8-1 BFC) next month at Bellator 97. Sources close to the fight on Sunday confirmed Jansen’s injury and the new title plan to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Injury Bug Bites Strikes Again; Dave Herman Now Faces Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162

UFC heavyweight Dave Herman was slated to fight Shane Del Rosario at UFC 162 on July 6 in Las Vegas, but the injury bug has claimed another victim. UFC officials on Friday announced that Del Rosario had to withdraw from the bout due to an undisclosed injury, but added that Gabriel Gonzaga had already agreed to take his place. Herman (21-5) has been skating on thin ice with the UFC for some time. He holds a 1-3 record in the Octagon and has twice failed a drug test for marijuana.
