Luke Sanders at UFC 209 Iuri Alcantara (35-7 MMA, 9-4 UFC) staged one of the greatest statistical comebacks in UFC history when he rallied from multiple near-stoppages and a 107 strike differential to submit the previously unbeaten Luke Sanders (11-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC). Sanders hurt Alcantara with big shots – the kind that would have most referees considering a stoppage.

Filed under: News Australian featherweight Megan Anderson is now an undisputed Invicta FC champion. Formerly an interim title holder, Anderson (8-2) was officially granted undisputed status prior to Saturday’s Invicta FC 22 event at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. Invicta FC officials made the move following former champ Cristiane Justino ’s decision to vacate the title in hopes of securing a UFC title shot. “I’m definitely excited,” Anderson said on Saturday’s Invicta FC 22 live stream on UFC Fight Pass. “I think it needed to happen when Cris moved to the UFC, but I’m glad that it’s happened now and it’s all cleared up.” Justino (17-1-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is hoping to challenge UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie (8-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) later this year, perhaps as soon as July’s UFC 214 event in California. Meanwhile, Anderson was in action most recently in January, when she picked up the interim belt with a second-round TKO of Charmaine Tweet at Invicta FC 21.

There was no controversy this time around between Tonya Evinger and Yana Kunitskaya . Evinger made sure of it, and now she’s the undisputed Invicta FC bantamweight champion after submitting Kunitskaya 4 minutes and 32 seconds into the second round with a rear-naked choke. It was a sweet finish for Evinger after the fallout from their first fight, when Kunitskaya originally was declared the winner via armbar in November. That decision was overturned, however, following an appeal by Evinger to the Missouri Athletic Commission.

Invicta FC has not yet made a formal announcement that the fight between Frey (5-2) and the unbeaten Morandin (9-0) is off. Weigh-ins for the event take place later today. 8-fight lineup for Invicta FC 22 now complete with addition of 2 fights

Invicta FC is back later this month, and the lineup now is complete for the promotion’s return. Invicta FC 22 has added a final pair of fights to the lineup. Former atomweight title challenger Amber Brown (6-3) will be back in the division after a one-fight stint at strawweight, and will take on Ashley Cummins (4-3). And Felicia Spencer (1-0) will meet Madison McElhaney (1-0) in a featherweight bout. Invicta FC 22 takes place March 25 at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo.

Invicta FC 22 adds four fights, including rebooked DeAnna Bennett vs. Jodie Esquibel

Next month’s return of Invicta FC continues to build with the addition of four new fights. The strawweight division will be on display at Invicta FC 22 with three of the new bouts set for the 115-pound weight class. The fourth takes place at atomweight. DeAnna Bennett (8-2) and Jodie Esquibel (5-2) have been rebooked for a strawweight fight originally scheduled for Invicta FC 21; Sunna Davidsdottir (1-0) will take on Mallory Martin (1-0) at 115 pounds; and Kal Holliday (1-0) meets Miranda Maverick (1-0). At atomweight, Jinh Yu Frey (5-2) takes on Janaisa Morandin (9-0). The promotion recently announced the new bouts.
