And that business had a lot to do with smashing up McDermott’s face, leaving him a bloody mess in the Bellator 173 light heavyweight main event on Friday in front of a friendly crowd in Northern Ireland. McGeary (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) survived a quick knockdown by McDermott (7-5 MMA, 0-1 BMMA), then got a TKO when the doctor stopped the fight 66 seconds into the second round. Bellator 173 took place Friday at SSE Arena Belfast in Northern Ireland. The night’s main card airsed on Spike via tape delay in the U.S. Also on the card, Conor McGregor teammate James Gallagher (6-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) tore through Kirill Medvedovsky (7-4 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) for a first-round submission win, then called out fellow featherweight A.J

Four preliminary bouts added to Bellator 139 on June 26 in Kansas

The card for Bellator 139 continues to come together with the announcement of four new bouts for the event. All four additions will air on the preliminary card, which streams on MMAjunkie prior to the Spike TV-televised main card at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan. The bouts were announced via a Bellator MMA press release. The event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Alexander Volkov. Bantamweights Aaron Ely (4-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and Jeimeson Saudino (8-4 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) will clash in a bout which will get one man’s career back on track.

Officials today announced the signings of recent UFC fighter Alexis Dufresne (5-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) and undefeated Roberta Paim (4-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) and Iony Razafiarison (2-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA). Debut dates and opponents haven’t been announced
