Sean Strickland was out of action for two years, but he sure is making up for lost time. The 29-year old out of Southern California returned from a two-year absence on Oct. 31 and earned a unanimous decision over Jack Marshman . Saturday, he looked even better. Fighting Brendan Allen in a 195-pound catchweight bout, Strickland (22-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) dominated en route to a second-round TKO finish.

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC on ESPN+ 39 fighter weigh-ins, where all but two fighters hit their marks for Saturday’s event. In the main event, former middleweight champion Anderson Silva (34-10 MMA, 17-6 UFC) takes on Uriah Hall (15-9 MMA, 8-7 UFC). The two weighed in back-to-back midway through the two-hour weigh-ins window. Hall came in at 186 pounds. Silva was 184 to make their headliner official

UFC 239 medical suspensions: Jon Jones, Thiago Santos face long terms

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones left the octagon limping after a split-decision win over Thiago Santos , and it could keep him benched for a while. Jones’ left foot could keep him out of action for up to six months, according to UFC 239 medical suspensions issued today by the Nevada Athletic Commission, which regulated this past Saturday’s event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Notes from the suspension indicate Jones (25-1 MMA, 18-1 UFC) needs an X-ray for his foot and an orthopedic doctor’s clearance to avoid a six-month term. Santos (21-6 MMA, 13-5 UFC) could get the same time should an MRI confirm a left knee injury that visibly hobbled him over the five-round fight. The Brazilian slugger also needs his left hand X-rayed.
